I sat in the dugout with Squints and Benny while we watched E.J pitch the first ball. It was a pretty smooth game, for the most part, pitching, hitting, then catching the ball. However, there was some side coaching from Benny. Also, the catches that Two-Ton caught were ridiculous. Chops was in the stands cheering for the team while Needman was yelling way more than anyone in the whole game. The score was 1 to nothing on the visitor side. By the third inning, Needman's team had scored another point, I didn't know what was going on with the empire because he all of a sudden got really into the game, and it scared me.

Needman's team was up two points to the two points that we had and I could tell he wasn't too happy, even though they were still winning.

The Sandlot team was doing all these things that I don't think we could have gotten away with in the majors. For example, fainting to get someone tagged, but there was no call.

It was Tommy's turn to bat, but instead of E.J doing his regular pitch Needman said to walk him, they argued for a while, then Benny started getting in on this argument, but, Squints and I just stayed close together not wanting to get in the middle of it. Needman and E.J started arguing again, and of course, Benny, Squints, and I still stare from a distance. E.J finally starts to pitch, Tommy missed two of the pitches, and he only had one more to go.

I believe he can do this. E.J let go of the final pitch and he did it, Tommy hit the ball! The referee soon yells foul ball, damn. Benny asked Santorelli if he could see the north pole, and thats when I knew that he was going to send that one over the wall. One by one everyone stands up to see where Tommy hit E.J final pitch and he got it all the way out to Mr. Mertles house.

The next inning The Sandlot team used a different ball, the Squints leaned over to me and said:

"It's the ball that we had when we concurred the best." I turned to him wide eyed and said,

"How is it back? Smalls had it." Then he answered my question,

"Benny asked Smalls for it because he knew we would want the same for them as we had for us." After squints said that, I looked at Benny in a slightly new way.

The game started up again while squints and I were busy talking and Needman's team already had two outs, and I realized that E.J is just a big jerk. The second pitch that Timber threw E.J hit and as Tommy saw that ball, he wasn't going to let E.J take the north pole from him. That ball was a miracle and the miracle was, Tommy caught it.

The Sandlot is saved.

Squints and I hugged for a while before the whole team gathered in a circle and cheered altogether. Tommy had to eventually leave to go and see his mother, and I finally had a spark in my mind about staying around here a little while longer.
