"I just want to remind you all about the dinner tonight." Jessie said while stirring coffee.
"Where's Nate?" Dave asked as he approached the table.
"He's still out jogging." Jessie answered and gave the coffee she made to his husband.
Jessie and Dave is living together happily married for almost 20 years. And happened to be that both their grand grandparents were one of the original founders of their town, so the responsibility was passed both to them since they both are only child.
"What time is the dinner, mom?" Katherine asked.
"Around 7. But make sure to be home at least half an hour before that. So we could prepare and everything."
"You see, I have a meeting to attend actually at around 5." Katherine said.
"So what are you proposing?"
"Well, that I may be a little late?"
"Just try to come before 7. Okay sweetie?"
"Okay."
"How about you, Sa5m?"
"Oh no I'm fine. I can dismiss the squad earlier today. They'll most likely love it." Sa5m answered.
"Good."
"Dad?" Katherine mumbled.
"Yes?" Dave said while reading his papers but still approachingly.
"Can I . . . ahm . . can I ask you both mom for something?" And she glanced a while to Sa5m and looked back to Dave.
"Anything, sweetie." Dave said folding his papers.
"Well, I'm already a senior now. And that I passed my driving classes and is legitimate to have my license already . . . can I ask for a car?"
"A car?" Dave asked a little bit shocked. He seemed not to be convinced that it is proper for a woman to drive a car. Specially her age.
"Yep. I assure you that I am liable in handling a car." Katherine assured her Dad.
"Hon, maybe we can make considerations about this." Jessie said calmly to Dave. She knows how much Dave objects about women who are driving.
"Okay. We'll just talk about this after dinner."
---
"Calm down. Dad will give you that." Sa5m said
"How can you be so sure?" Katherine is starting to doubt.
"I know dad. And don't worry, I'll try to talk to him. Okay?"
"You better be."
---
"What time are they ariving again?" Nate asked while sitting comfortably on the counch.
"I don't know. But I told them that dinner is at 7." Jessie said finishing arranging the table.
"Is everybody set now?" Dave asked.
"Yep." Katherine and Sa5m both replied.
Then few minutes later, they heard a their doorbell rang.
"Maybe it's them." Jessie exclaimed then sighed. "Now, be nice everyone." She said and held Dave's hand to open the door.
