The days passed smoothly. Every day, I would direct Felicity to bring me some books from different genres. History, fantasy, anything that a girl my age should have knowledge of. Fortunately, it seems like my father has an impressive collection of books. Speaking of my father, when I told him that, "I don't want anyone knowing of my amnesia," he stared at me for a while, before nodding. Seriously, I really don't want to ever meet the real Camille. She must be a bitch if her parents let her do whatever she desires.
From the day I had woke up, 5 days had passed. I used each day to my advantage, reading rigorously, determined to know more about this world. At first, Felicity looked at me weirdly, but after giving her a 'talk', she obediently delivers my books and leaves without a word. She most likely thinks I have gone insane, and judging by her reaction, the old Camille must have been the complete opposite as the current one.
At the same time, this world is very mysterious. For some reason, even though it bears no resemblance to my old world, the planet I am living on is still called Earth. Although its lands are completely off, the name is still the same. The countries differ greatly, with completely different names that I can't even begin to try to pronounce. There are other races besides the human race as well. There is the beast race, with human features combined with animal characteristics. They are known as strong, but lacking in the intellectual area. Then there are elves, those who excel at magic and are accepted as the wisest creatures on the planet. They look almost exactly like the humans, save for their disfigured ears. Obviously, humans are at the bottom of the food chain. They are both mediocre in strength, and in magic. The races are split between continents, with humans having the least land, the Central Continent.
I had rolled my eyes at the information. It sounded like something out of an anime I would have watched when I was younger. Fortunately, peace has remained between the races, and the last time a war had ever broken out was over a hundred years ago. The humans had lost against the beast race, giving up 50% of our land. There were other races as well, but they tended to hide without disturbing any of the other races.
I sighed, massaging my head. Unfortunately, I haven't taken a step out of this bed except for meals and personal needs. Sitting in bed for hours have finally caught up to me. I yawned, and stretched my arms out, cracking my neck and back in the process. This won't do, it will only get tougher from here on.
"Felicity," I called. The young maid opened my doors quickly and stepped in, not making eye contact with me.
"Yes, Miss Camille?" Oh dear, it looked like I had crossed some kind of line. This is why interactions were such a pain.
"Felicity, please don't be afraid of me. I am going to appoint you as my personal maid after all, how am I supposed to speak to you if you won't even meet my eyes? I don't remember anything I have done in the past, but if I had offended you in any way, I am sorry." I told her earnestly. She quickly flicked her head up.
"N-no, you can't apologize to a lowly servant like me!" Felicity shook her hands in front of her. "And you haven't done anything to me, I swear! It's just that after you woke up, Miss Camille had been acting completely different. I know that your memory is gone, it's just, you seem almost considerate of people now."
At that, I laughed. "Was I really that bad?" Not that I hadn't expected it, but for someone to be this afraid of me. Felicity started to nod, but remembering herself, she began to shake her head frantically.
I stepped out of bed, reaching towards Felicity. She widened her eyes at my actions and started to step back, but I grabbed her hands. "Felicity, I want you to know, that from now on, I will never hurt a person would good intentions. I just want a peaceful life, and to be happy." I gave a sad smile at my own words. Happy might be a little far out of reach, but I will aim for the former. She nodded and looked like she was going to cry.
I smiled back and let her hands go. "Oh, but I could really use some fresh air." I gave a stretch to display my intentions.
Running out of the room Felicity said, "I'll get Miss Camille's clothing!" Wait clothing? Oh no, please do not tell me I have to wear a thick dress. I can't heavy dresses. Felicity, come back! Can't I just wear my undergarments! Please...
XXXXX
After changing into a beautiful looking, but very uncomfortable dress, I followed Felicity in a walk to the garden. It was a nice day out, quite warm for a day in the middle of October. The flowers raised in the garden were very beautiful. When I asked Felicity, I noticed that many of these species did not exist in my old world. At least roses are still here.
Taking a whiff of the flowers, I jumped as Felicity called out someone's name behind me.
"W-wait! Mister Ashwood, you cannot just barge in like this! Miss Camille just recovered-" Felicity tries to block her arms at the intruder, but fails miserably as he steps forward. Not being able to fight back, she accidentally falls.
I start to glare at the stranger, but I falter as I meet his eyes. To put it into one word, he was beautiful. My blonde hair was on the lighter side, while he had more of dirty blonde hair. It complimented wonderfully with his bright green eyes, full of confidence. Not to mention, every step he takes shouted "NOBLE". Even he paled in comparison.
Lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice the man lifting his hand until after in made contact with my face. From the background, I heard Felicity gasp in horror.
"I have tolerated you, Camille Calvert, for over 12 years. I had tried my best to keep you happy, seeing your affections for me. But I can do this no longer. Not only did you drag an innocent girl in your fit of jealous rage, you actually even dare to get her injured! I hereby declare that I, Alexander Ashwood, annul my engagement with Camille Calvert." He told me, a silent angry lurking in the back of his eyes.
A/N: Merry Christmas guys! Here's my gift to you all! Things are spicing up, yay! Coming up with names is very tough, sigh~.
