A/N: So both good and bad news. Good news, I updated! The bad news is that the next update might won't be for a while. Unfortunately, the curse called school has finally caught up to me, and I sort of need to make sure I don't fail my classes. Being a junior is hell I'm telling you, absolute hell. A little background on the magic: Magicians use the elements around them to create energy. However, most magic users store the energy to use magic. Camille, on the other hand, directly manipulates the particles around her, giving her an advatage of speed. Anyways, enjoy!
Warning: Some violence ahead.
I wanted to rush into the room and knock over the elf immediately. At the same time I knew it was too risky, especially since currently, his magic level was much higher than mine. It seemed like he has the element of steel, and I have not perfected my ice shield at such a level just yet. I needed to sneak into the room quietly and knock him out by pressuring on a weak point on his body. Truthfully, all I wanted to was to shape an ice knife and stab him in the heart, preventing anyone else from ever being hurt again. But that would be murder, making me no different from him.
With those thoughts in mind, I approached the room where I knew the elf would be observing his summoning circle, making sure everything is perfect. I never expected that it was already starting, shattering my plans completely.
I thought Michael would have taken all the 24 hours to make his mind, seeing as he was almost unwilling before. But I was wrong. That idiot with his hero complex had taken up the elf's offer and was walking towards the glowing circle, looking determined. I honestly wanted to slap him; I was practically a stranger, was he willing to sacrifice many for the sake of one? I had no choice, if I let him go even a little further, he was going to die. I had to show my hand.
I made a slithering creature with the water around me, condensing it with a bit of ice to make it as effective as possible. Lifting my arms to give it a test move, confirming when it gave a light slap when it hit the floor, I quickly urged it to move towards Michael, as his feet comes closer and closer to the circle. It was very draining, to say the least; I had never made such a large creature before, and its effects were getting to me.
The sharper end of the creature moved towards the head of Michael, and with a swift movement of my arms, it attacked his temple, knocking him out. I sighed in relief. That was way too close. But now I had something else to deal with. The elf was standing in the middle of the circle, an odd book in his hands, looking shocked. When his eyes met mine, he snarled in anger, and called, "Get her!" towards his men.
I ran up to Michael, rapidly moving his body as far from the summoning circle as possible. The dark engravings looked even more creepy at a closer look, generating a little panic from within me. I shook my head, I had to deal with these two guys in front of me first.
Judging by the weapons in their hands, they held no magic, making this task a lot easier. Though, their height was a terrible unnecessity, as I had to look up to them with my head fully angled. As they ran towards me, I used the trick that had was planned from earlier in the day, causing them to slip on the ice. I laughed bitterly; never would I have expected to use this in such a situation.
Seeing them both on the floor, I waved my hands and created the perfect sized handcuffs for their feet and hands, causing them to groan in shock. They then proceeded to direct some ugly curses at me, causing me to gag their mouths as well. Satisfied that I had pulled that off quite eloquently, I approached the elf with great caution.
He was still looking at his goons with confusion. "Ice magic. I don't understand. That's impossible," he muttered. I shuddered as I walked towards the center of the circle; it was still glowing. I yanked the elf out of the circle, pushing him to the floor, causing the scribbles to return to the look I had seen them in earlier.
On the floor, the elf cried, "No! Stop!" as he tried crawling back to his previous position. I lifted my right hand, and put all the strength I could muster into one last attack and gave him a resounding slap. At this point I was almost panting, my energy was quickly draining out of my body. I couldn't let this go on for any longer. But first.
"Power? Do you really think it's really power that rules this world?" I created very thin needles from ice, levitating them in my hands. "I disagree. I think that it is the knowledge that drives this world." With that, I drove the needles into his body, causing him to cry out in pain.
"Do you feel that? Well, good. Now you know how it felt for the little girl you were so intent on torturing." I drove a couple more into his body, determined for him to feel even a fraction of her pain.
"Shut. Up!" He growled. With a flash, he managed to overpower me, switching our positions. I didn't even have a chance to blink before his hands were curling around my neck. I tried to defend myself, but. had used the last ounce of it.
"Let's see knowledge getting you out of this," he glared with murderous intent, tightening his grip, and I felt my vision go white.
No. Not like this. I haven't saved anyone yet. I had to at least protect that little girl and the prince. I couldn't die like this. Tears started pouring out of my eyes.
"AHHHH!" I was about to go unconscious until I heard an excruciating high pitch scream. The hands released me, and I turned over, coughing and gasping for breath at the same time. The tears were falling from my eyes, and I felt myself shiver.
The elf was also screaming, and I looked over to see half of his face burning. Then, I realized the whole room was starting to burn as well. I looked over to the source- it was the little girl. She was sobbing desperately as the flames intensified. With the remaining strength that I had, I slowly crawled over to her. I wrapped my arms around her with a hug whispering, "It's ok. I'm ok. Just breathe, alright?"
She hugged me back, her breath quietening, but the flames didn't die down. We had to get out of here, now. I stood with shaky legs, lifting the girl in my arms. She was highly underweight, making it an easy effort. I had a bit of magic left, enough to lift Michael and escape. I turned around and saw the bodies that I was going to leave behind. With a great weight on my soul, I spun around and ran.
Outside, the carriage that she came in was there, waiting with a horse. Running up to the carriage, I placed Michael inside, locking the doors. I climbed onto the horse with a bit of difficulty, but I realized I didn't know how to ride. I was a modern girl; this was the closest I've ever even been to a horse. I glanced over to the elf girl.
"Do you know how to ride?" I asked. She stared at me for a while, then looked over to the horse, and nodded. I gave the reins to her, and we quickly started moving, leaving the building that was in flames. I closed my eyes, sighing in relief. It was over. I slowly dozed off into a blissful, peaceful sleep.

Although the flames heightened and destroyed most of the building, however, the white room stayed in the same shape. In it, a certain evil elf opened his eyes, giving a maniacal laugh, crazed. He stood up with great difficulty and took out a tube of blood. He approached the circle, which was still in perfect shape.
The light-haired man pulled off the cap and poured the blood onto the circle, triggering a light to appear off the symbols on the floor. With a mutter of incoherent words, he slit his wrist, watching as more blood fell onto the circle. A flash of light appeared, and then all went black.
