A/N: This chapter was so hard to write. Sorry for the late update.
The moment I heard the guard snoring, I began my plan to escape. I could have knocked him out, but violence wasn't too appealing right now. If possible, I wanted to not hurt anyone right now.
I scrambled to the lock in front of my cell. Gathering my ice magic took a little longer than expected as I haven't used it in a while. I needed a bit more practice. Nevertheless, I quickly made a makeshift key and unlocked my cell.
Once I escaped that claustrophobic mess, I crept quietly past the guard, making sure not to wake him. Just in case, I created a pile of ice under his feet. Can't be too cautious.
I moved quickly, a destination in my mind. While walking, I managed to create a spear out of ice for defense. It was simple. Whatever was possessing Alice, it wanted the sword. She was already in that room before I got there. I'm guessing the Inanima are trying to prevent the past from reoccurring. Meaning, they are intent on trying to not be defeated.
Fortunately, I had a pretty good memory of the interior of the castle by now, especially with being here twice. With a few wrong turns, I managed to find that odd wall again. I retraced my actions and opened the door. I instantly felt that pull again, to take the sword for myself and protect it. It took all I could not to just run for the relic. Mainly because I knew someone was already there.
"Well, well," a dark, deep voice came out of Alice. The one that told me this wasn't my friend, the one that reminded me that this was a monster. I raised my sword towards the figure, cautiously approaching.
"You know, I don't understand. How does a tiny, powerless girl like you manage to interfere with my plans every single time? There's nothing remotely special about you. Yet you keep coming back," the voice rang out.
"Maybe you're just not as powerful as you thought you were," I said bitterly.
Alice just laughed. "You've got guts, girl. Don't you know what I am?"
We were only a few feet from each other now. "No. But I don't care, either." I swung my spear towards Alice, who had a weapon of her own. Upon impact, I immediately observed one thing. Alice, or whatever was possessing her, was stronger. Meaning I had to act quickly.
We struggled against one another for a while, though she was just a fraction stronger than me. I began to be pushed back, inch by inch. Both of my hands were on my weapon as I continued to struggle. Over Alice's shoulder, I could see the sword, causing a buzz in my ears.
With a grunt, I was slammed into the wall. Alice gave a malicious grin as she forced my spear closer and closer to my throat.
"I'm going to enjoy killing you," she said, the force of her sword causing my weapon to choke me. I let out a gasp, my legs struggling as I was lifted up. I managed to choke out a laugh. She narrowed her eyes. "Why are you laughing? You're about to die!" With a smile, I looked down.
She followed my gaze in confusion. Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw her hands were frozen to her sword.
"What?" the monster yelled, slowly backing up. I fell to the ground coughing. Not missing a beat, I quickly froze the bottom of her feet into the ground, trapping her into one spot. The monster screeched as she struggled to move her feet, trying to remove her hands from the sword to no avail.
Knees wobbling, I managed to stand up, hands against the wall to help me steady. I took small steps towards the shining sword. I don't understand how the sword was still here as the location of such an important item was no longer a complete secret. Shouldn't the King place it somewhere else?
