Kidnapped

A/N: Ok, here's a little clarification for those who are questioning why the people of this world looks down on the element of water. Science practically does not exist here, so while people knows that when water freezes, it becomes ice, they do not understand the process behind it, so most water users can just move the water around, which only serves as a healing ability. You can say people are overly reliant on magic, making them a lot more superstitious. I hope that cleared up some things. Also, YEAH 1K VIEWS AND 100 VOTES. Thank you so much!

I drift slowly into consciousness, feeling dreadfully uncomfortable. I soon realized why. My hands were tied up, and my mouth was gagged. What was happening? I tried to remember what happened. I was left in school with the dark prince when- oh yeah someone had knocked me unconscious.

I opened my eyes but only darkness was met. I felt the ground rumble; I was on some sort of vehicle. Most likely a carriage judging by the roughness and pace we were going. I was panicking. Where were they taking me? Who took me? And where was that damn bastard? As I thought, my legs moved, and I felt another body beside me. Well, I guess I found him. I tried kicking him awake, to no avail. The guy was peacefully sleeping through this whole thing. I wanted to sigh, but couldn't.

"Well, that was easy," I heard murmurs from outside. Desperate to know the situation, I inched closer to the perpetrators.

"Don't say that. We had to wait weeks until there was an opportunity to knock him out," another voice responded. Him? Then, why was I involved in this?

"What about the girl? Is it ok we didn't bind her magic?" I tried to glance over at Michael, but it was too dark to detect any change in him.

"She has water magic. We just would've wasted another cuff. Besides, what is she going to do, splash us?" They both laughed in response. I was seriously frightened by now. From the looks of it, they weren't after me; I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I need to get out of here before the situation gets any worse. I quickly glanced around, gently knocking my head at the material. It was wood; with a little effort, I can create an opening and escape.

I tried to find and focus on my blue particles. Luckily, they shone in the darkness. Concentrating fully, I started to move the particles.

I couldn't do it. Well, not couldn't. Wouldn't. I would not leave him there, defending himself against people who could be murderers. I couldn't leave him alone like everyone else had in the past.

When they came to get us, I feigned sleep, and they carried us to a prison where they locked us up. Luckily, we stayed together; breaking out of one cell was much easier than two.

"They should be out for a while, let's go report to the boss," the rougher voice spoke. I waited until the footsteps died out, giving a few seconds to make sure they wouldn't come back, and opened my eyes. Creating an ice knife, I cut the ropes bounding my hands and removed the gag in my mouth. I crawled over to where Michael was sitting and removed his gag.

"Your highness," I whispered, shaking him. No response. I tried shaking him a little harder, but nothing happened. Getting annoyed, I gave him a light slap. It worked, and his eyes snapped open. In one movement, he sat up and gave me a headbutt in the process.

With a whimper, I rubbed my head. Ungrateful brat.

"What. Are. You Doing." He gave me another one of his ferocious glare. I rolled my eyes in response.

"Well, if you hadn't noticed we're kinda locked up in a prison. And if you think that has anything to do with me, then they must've hit your head pretty hard." Glancing around, he didn't look too shocked. It must be a regular occurrence to be kidnapped when you're a prince.

He met my eyes again. "Why are you here?" He already came to the conclusion that they came for him. I shrugged. "No idea. They must've taken me too because I was the only one with you." A look of guilt flashed in his eyes, which sparked a bit of pleasure in me.  However, he continued with no apology.

"I'll get us out of here," he said with a look of determination, waving his hands. Nothing happened. Confused, he moved his hands again, but the same resulted. For the first time, the fear went across his features. I took his arm in my hands, surprising him.

"This cuff is restraining your magic," pointing the black cuff around his hand, engraved with an odd script I've never seen before. Quickly, Michael tried to pull the cuff off, crying in pain in the process.

"I need a key," he groaned. I could make a key out of ice, but I'd have to reveal my powers to him. I couldn't trust him yet. I reached for his wrist with a bit water, focusing my energy in the process. He sighed in relief at the healing.

"Thank you," he whispered. Our eyes met for a moment before a cough interrupted.

"Now isn't this a cute scene," a sweet-sounding voice came behind us. I turned my head to see a young man, no more than age 16 with bright white hair and golden eyes. A beautiful person, almost not human. Until I realized his ears were abnormal. Michael noticed as well.

"You're an elf?" Although we were in a time of peace, the elf race was still disliked. The humans were still bitter about the war of the races a century ago. Seeing an elf in the human territory was an extremely rare sight.

The elf chuckles. "Great assumption," his silk like voice can hypnotize you if you weren't paying attention, judging from the state of daze Michael was in.

"What do you want?" I had to take action instead. The elf's eyes finally met mine with a look of surprise.

"What do you mean?" He gave me a sweet smile.

"You're not a simple kidnapper. Otherwise, you wouldn't have prepared an anti-magic cuff. So it's not about the money. You also don't seem to be so concerned that we have escaped our ropes. Not to mention, elves don't need money, especially dirty human money. It's about his magic isn't it?" I spoke my thoughts out loud, never breaking my gaze. Michael snapped out of his daze, realizing the intention of my words.

An odd expression flickered across the elf's face. "Follow me," he spoke. He unlocked our cell, motioning us to come towards him. Seeing no other option, we obeyed him. The building was a little worn out by the looks out, with the walls peeling off and dirt on the floor. It seemed to be a typical hideout. But as soon as we walked into another room, it almost shined.

It was completely empty, with white walls and floor. The only thing was that stained was a black summoning circle on the floor. I slowly backed away, feeling fear creeping up.

"What are you trying to do?" I whispered.

He laughed a beautiful sound, but only caused goosebumps to inch up on my skin.

"For the past hundred years, we've made no advancement. In fact, we have only gone backward, getting weaker over time. What pains me the most is that it's not only humans, it's my own race and all the other races. We are all so weak," he said in a hateful tone that doesn't match his face at all. "But it wasn't always like this. We once had great power. Even humans were stronger than the current elves, than the current beasts. We had the power to defeat even the strongest predator- the demons."

I shook my head. He was crazy. Crazy for power that he can't differentiate between right and wrong. "So you want to revive a monster, which will destroy hundreds of thousands of lives?" I asked mockingly.

"Don't see it like that. See it as evolution. People become stronger in the presence of danger. And strength will be an advantage. The death of a few thousand is just collateral damage," he replied without blinking an eye.

"And how do you plan to do this? No one has seen a demon for thousands of years. They're practically a legend by now." But I knew. Somehow, he was going summon one using this creepy circle.

The elf pointed to Michael. "I have all preparations ready. All I need now is a sacrifice with a dark soul."

Michael laughed bitterly. "You bastard. Like I'm going to help you in your fucked up plan," he said.

Suddenly, a sharp spear appeared right in front of my eyes, an inch away from penetrating my skull. "If you don't, she'll die," the elf spoke.
