A/N: Hey guys! I actually got an update out, you have no idea how surprised I am. I've only gone through 2 days of exams, yet I am mentally exhausted. Here's an extra long update because apparently, I'm insane. Also, thank you so much for reading! I still have no idea why anyone would want to read my writing! Enjoy!

Update: I also changed the cover. Tell me what you think: is it ok, terrible, or awesome?

I sat there, listless. Everywhere I look was black and gray, and even the weather suited my mood perfectly; it was dreary, not a sight of sunlight.  I couldn't believe what had happened. We were supposed to spend my birthday together, just like the good old days, when I was still a child. But why? Why did God take both of them?

Many people came up to me- relatives, friends, acquaintances- but I did not recognize any of them. I could only watch as they gave their condolences. But it didn't help. I had lost my parents, the dearest people to me in the world. How could I go on living?

"Ayano," he called out, reaching for my shoulder. "Are you ok?" He looked worried, so I gave him a reassuring smile in response, reaching for his hand.

"I'm fine, just a little tired," I said.

He squeezed my hand. "Don't worry, Ayano. I promise I'll stay with you until the end."

I woke up, gasping. Clutching my head, I gave a long sigh. Even in a different world, these memories still haunt me. I could only hope that with time, I will forget.

Felicity comes in at the perfect moment, helping me get dressed for school. "You look a little pale. How are you?"

"I'm fine, just a little tired," I mimic the words from that time. Felicity nods in response.

"Your father said it's ok if you want to walk to school. He wanted you to have a bodyguard as well, although he knows you're too stubborn to accept that," Felicity scolded. I smiled. It looks like my father already knows this new 'me' pretty well.

I proceeded to walk to school, humming to myself. I took a breath of the fresh air in, feeling the oxygen rush. At the same time, I eyed the floating blue particles that are present throughout. After continuing to practice my magic, I started noticing them. And if I focused on controlling these particles instead, the magic came a bit easier, with fewer headaches as well.

Looking forward, I saw a familiar silhouette and sped up my pace. With a little speed, I caught up with her.

"Good morning, Alice!" I said cheerfully. A little spooked, she jumped a few inches. "G-good morning, Camille," she replied a little warily.

"I'm surprised you're walking; I expected Alex to take you the school," I told her, forcing myself to sound the least hostile.

"Alex? Why would he take me to school? I'm a commoner, he's the school prince," she replied, surprising me. I didn't think she would have opened up to me so quickly. It was probably due to the fact I was his ex-fiance.

"I would have thought you guys were going out," I teased, knowing it wasn't true. I knew Alex was in love with Alice, though I'm sure he didn't know she liked him back, judging from the blush on her cheeks. He was probably too scared to confess his feelings; being the son of such an influential person means you have to have a lot of pride.

"O-of course not. Alex doesn't see me like that. I'm just a friend to him, and I'm not even that special," she sighed. Boy does this girl lack confidence.

"Not special? You're the only girl in the whole school that can use light magic. And do you know how many guys are in love with you?" One of whom an actual prince. She looked very shocked. Typical airhead.
