"He honestly wasn't that bad, (Y/N)," Lillian told you while you were lying on your bed, face down, in your room. You were tired, so you let out a yawn.
"That's what you said about Ashley," you reminded her as you reach up to grab your pillow and smash it over your ears, muffling her voice.
"Please, (Y/N). You're just overreacting from yesterday," she scoffed, pulling the soft pillow from hands. "He wasn't even at the party." You groaned and flip over and glared at her.
"What was his name, then, if he isn't so bad?" you asked stubbornly. She suddenly looked uncomfortable, fidgeting at the doorway. "See? He's even worse, he didn't even bother saying his name. The party is completely irrelevant, they made fun of me long before that."
"Okay, he didn't say a name," she sighed, biting her lip. "But he was nice, and fun. And sorta cute," she added thoughtfully.
"No!" you exclaimed, letting out a quiet laugh. "You do not think that!"
"Only a bit, don't worry. Not as cute as Yuzuru though," she amended with a giggle. You roll your eyes and turn around to face the wall. (A/N: My friend, Lunitayyy, is actually obsessed with Yuzuru Hanyu, the Japanese figure skater. It's him below, in case you wanted to know.... Your little cinnamon bun!! :P)
"Please, not him again. Look, don't you have an essay paper due on Friday or something?" you groaned, standing up and brushing past her, going to the front door. "You go work on that. I'm gonna take a walk, okay?"
Lillian let out a huff. "Fine. I'll be here when you get back," she told you, then went to her separate room, closing the door. You headed out the door, closing it softly behind you.
* At the park *
You sat on a bench, and took a deep breath. It was a nice day, with a cool breeze blowing against your face and the pond right in front of you. There weren't many people around, just an old couple feeding the ducks. You watch the couple and the ducks, fighting for more bread crumbs.
"Mind if I sit here?" someone asked. You recognized that accent, the one you couldn't place.
"Whatever," you replied coldly, looking away. The green-haired man sighed and sat down, looking at you thoughtfully.
"Just give me a chance? I won't... you know, make fun of you, or anything," he said, sounding like he wanted to do just that. You rolled your eyes and stared at him, right into his ocean blue eyes. They still looked familiar, but you still couldn't place it. "My name is Anti," he started slowly, placing his hand on his chest, talking to you as if you didn't speak English.
"What sort of name is that?" you scoffed, narrowing your eyes. He gave off a bright, knowing smile, and simply says,
"Mine."
"Okay, then. My name is (Y/N)," you held out your hand limply for a handshake, but he takes it and kisses the back of your hand, surprising you.
"Nice to meet you, (Y/N)," he says in a low voice, looking up into your (e/c) eyes. Then, you finally realize the accent. Irish!
"Are you Irish?" you asked, an unintentional smile growing on your lips at the sudden realization.
"So you've noticed my accent," he smirked, but didn't answer your question. You raised your eyebrow, suspicious, but he just chuckled and looked to the pond.
"Do you want to know why I decided to join you during lunch?" he asked.
"Sort of," you answered quietly, taking notice of the way his hand was slowly moving towards yours. You smiled and turn away, just for you to feel his hand clamped tightly around yours.
"I saw you with that girl, Ashley, in the hall," he answered. "The way you stood up for your friend was... valiant," he says slowly, like he wasn't used to speaking the word.
You shrugged, and murmured, "It wasn't that big of a deal, Anti."
"It seemed like it. It looks like she's keeping well away from you, you know."
"So I've heard," you nodded. "But she's going to get over it. She'll be back before you know it."
"Maybe, maybe not. You never know, she looked terrified when she saw you," he smirked, squeezing your hand, which you had forgotten was still clutched in his. You shrugged, but feel warmth spreading across your cheeks as you looked down. Were you blushing in front of him?
"Is that necessarily a good thing?" you asked quietly, starting to feel guilty.
"It is for me," he answered, then let go of your hand. It felt strangely cold without his touch. "I'll see you tomorrow, (Y/N)?"
"Maybe," you smiled crookedly at him, and he stands up, smiling.
"Bye," he said, and walked away, sticking his hands casually in his jean pockets.
Maybe he's not so bad, you thought to yourself as you let out a smile, and headed back to campus.
