• Chapter Ten: •
I wake up at five in the morning. For some reason, I felt like I slept for a week. There are too many vivid memories and thoughts sprinting through my head, preventing me from sleeping. The sun is due to come out in more than an hour.
I stay silent.
Each second seemed to last one millennium.
Fact: time goes slower when you stare into a watch or a clock.
I just stayed there, sitting on the couch with my eyes open, thinking about life. Thinking about my future, about Emma.
Emma has been the only girl I've talked to for the longest time. She's probably the only girl in the whole universe who doesn't think I'm a freak.
The only one that can keep us apart is her mom. The only thing I need to do is not get caught.
Hide.
But honestly, I don't think I can live here forever, not because I'll get caught, but simply because if something does happen between us it'll only lead for me to exit.
I don't expect to stay forever. I have to find my own place and become independent.
A peak of light slowly tries to enter through the crystal clear window.
The time reads 6: 54 A.M. It's clear to me that Emma and Stephanie wouldn't wake up any time soon. I can even hear a small snore, I'm betting its Stephanie.
I look around to find some paper and a pencil. I find a pen in a small plastic cup full of pens and pencils near the kitchen table along with a sticky note.
I grab the pen and start writing.
Emma...
I went out for a walk. Don't worry about me, I'll be back soon. I went on a search for a job. I have to do something, at least, if I'm going to live here. Thank you for everything.
-Adam.
