"Twigs?" I knocked her door, but she didn't answer. I knew she was in her room, though. "Can we talk for a second?"

I avoided her in the past few days. It was Friday the last time I talked to her, now it was Tuesday.

Whenever I saw her, I tried going into another direction, hoping she hadn't seen me. Whenever she knocked at my door to ask if I was there, I hid in the bathroom. And whenever we had a class together, I didn't turn up.

I was disgusted by myself.

After a few seconds the door opened a bit and I saw Twigs look at me through red eyes. "Where have you been?" she mumbled and I looked her in the eyes.

"I just... I was... Twigs, I'm sorry. I'm an asshole."

"You sure are." She let me walk in and we both didn't say anything for a few seconds.

"See, what happened on Friday-"

"I'm sorry for just leaving-"

We both stopped when we realised the other started talking.

"Sorry, you go first," I said quietly and Twigs nodded slowly.

"What happened on Friday... I'm sorry. It didn't mean anything. I just... I love Leon, you know, I just felt... I felt lonely and didn't know how to deal with my feelings. I don't know." She looked at me. "I'm sorry. I promise it didn't mean anything. I... I don't want things to be awkward between us."

"It's fine. I shouldn't have left afterwards, though. I'm sorry."

"It's okay," she mumbled.

We both just stood there for some long seconds, avoiding eye contact.

"Friends?" Twigs finally said and I nodded and attempted to smile lightly. I wrapped my arms around her small figure. "Always."

After a few seconds she pulled away from me and smiled awkwardly. "So, um... You wanna sit down or anything?"

"Yeah sure," I said quietly and sat down on her bed while she sat down on her desk chair.

Silence.

"So, uh-"

But my phone interrupted Twigs with whatever she wanted to say, making that little sound signalising that I got a message. "Sorry I..."

"Oh no it's fine, check it, I don't mind."

I nodded slowly and checked the message.

Dan Howell 11.31 PM

"hey are you free tonight? me and sofia wanted to watch the new american horror story but now she's busy and i don't feel like watching it on my own"

My heart started to beat a bit faster. I know it's ridiculous but... I just really liked Dan.

I didn't like-like him of course.

He was just nice to talk to.

"Why are you smiling? Who texted you?" Twigs asked and I looked at her, feeling my cheeks heat up.

I hadn't even realised I smiled.

"What? Uh, nobody."

"Phil."
