“Brinngg, brrriiinnggg” The irritating sound of my phone echoes through my apartment making me wake up instantly.
Sunlight peaks through my dark curtains as I roll over on my comfy bed to stop the annoying sound. I reach for the IPhone on my bed side table, Mum is plastered over the home screen.
“Hello?” I groan into the phone pulling it off the charger.
“Good morning Harmony.” Mums high pitched voice chirps through the speaker.
It’s way too early for her to be that happy. I rub my tired eyes and sit up on the bed so my back is resting against the headboard.
“Morning mum.” I mumble through a yawn.
“What are you doing sweetheart?” Mum asks. Can she not already tell that I just woke up by the way I’m talking and my tired voice?
“Just woke up, what about you?” I question pulling my legs over to the edge of my double bed, letting them dangle onto the cold floor boards.
“That’s what I thought you were doing and that’s why I called. Honey, its 7.00am you start work at 9am remember? I know you take ages to get ready and you don’t want to be late on your first day.” Mum casually laughs on the other side of the phone.
“Shit.” I groan pulling myself off my bed and running down the curly stairs into the kitchen.
“What was that?” Mum says and I can already see her facial expression. Eye brow raised and sarcastic look on her face.
“I meant crap…” I laugh pushing the kettle down so it boils. I’m 20 years old and I still can’t get away with saying shit to my mum.
“That’s what I thought. Okay well I will let you go, so you can get ready. Love you darling, good luck!” Mum squeaks into the phone.
“Thanks mum, love you too.” I smile before ending the call and placing my iPhone on the kitchen bench. Lucky she called, or I probably would have been late. Why didn’t I set an alarm?
I shake my head at myself and walk back across my small apartment to the little black curly stairs which sit in the corner. I climb them quickly and make my away across my small bedroom to my bathroom. Turning the tap on to just the right temperature, I strip myself of any clothing and jump straight into the running water. I instantly feel better as the water cleanses my body. I begin washing myself with my strawberry scented soap and then scrub my hair with shampoo and conditioner. After making sure I’m fully clean I shave over the stubbles on my legs that have formed. Once finished in the shower I wrap myself up in a towel and dry myself off.
I leave my bathroom to enter my small bedroom. In the corner sits small chested drawers full of my clothes. Since the dressed code for my new job at Myer is pretty strict, we can only wear black and white clothes. I rummage through my clothes mentally noting to buy more black and white items. I end up pulling out one of my nice black blowy dresses and a clean white blazer to chuck on the top.
I put on a nude pair of matching underwear and throw my black dress on, leaving my blazer on my bed for the moment. I gently place my silver locket around my neck, like I do every day. The locket holds a very special picture of me and my sister Cher.
I make my way back into my bathroom and begin to do my makeup. I’m a very girly girl and love anything to do with makeup and fashion. I can’t count how many makeup tutorials and fashion shows I have watched. So you can say I have a pretty nice dress sense and know how to look good.
I put on my daily moisturiser and do my normal foundation before applying a bit of eye liner. Once I have finished that I start to do a Smokey eye on my eyelids. Since I’m going to be working in the lingerie department I want to look really professional and pretty. After finishing my eye shadow I curl my eyelashes before adding a good amount of mascara. Lucky my eyelashes are long enough so I don’t have to wear fake ones.
