I wake up the next morning tired than ever. After my nightmare last night, I couldn’t sleep. Every time I briefly closed my eyes another nightmare would appear. They haven’t come to me like this since I moved houses. I thought that if I moved and I started fresh they would leave. But they haven’t. They are still here haunting my un-conscious mind while I sleep.

I crawl out of my bed slowly and go straight to the bathroom to have a shower. I’m hardly awake, so water is the best remedy to make my eyes open. I turn the shower on as I strip out of my pyjamas and throw them over the towel rack. I emerge my body into the hot running water and let it stream down my face, instantly making me feel awake.

I over stay my shower time and end up having a 15-20 minute shower. I get out quickly once I realise I now don’t have long to get ready.

Once I dry myself off, I quickly get changed into my underwear and begin to do my hair half naked. I decided today to put it back in a slick ponytail and wrap a piece around the hair tie to make it look more professional. After I have finished my hair I do my normal amount of work makeup and rush my smoky eye, because I’m short on time.

When I have finished my hair and makeup I rummage through my drawers and pull out my tight black pants and white blouse. I tuck my blouse into the pants and let it puff out of the side, letting it hang down loosely.(Outfit on the side.) I place my locket gently around my neck and give it a small kiss. That sounds weird, but I always do it. This locket means more to me than anyone knows.

I rush down the stairs with my phone and handbag when I am ready. I don’t bother making myself a tea because I’m already late at It is. I should have been out the door 10 minutes ago. I practically run around the apartment getting all of my things ready. I grab an apple –for breakfast- out of my fridge and a pre-made ham sandwich for lunch. I throw both of them in my bag and quickly slide on my black pumps before locking the apartment door.

“Hey neighbour.” I hear a now familiar deep voice behind me. I really can’t stay and talk at the moment, I am now 15 minutes late.

I turn around to meet the neighbour I met drunk last night. Drake? I think that’s what Kylie said his name is.

“Morning.” I smile as he walks over to me with his keys in his hands. He is wearing the same clothes as last night but cleaner ones, and his hair is moulded into a perfect quiff.

I begin to walk over to the elevator with him trailing behind me. This is probably why I don’t see him, because he leaves 15 minutes later than I do. We both hop into the elevator and Drake kindly clicks the lobby button, making the door shut.

“Sorry about the music last night.” He apologizes and I turn to him surprised. I didn’t really think he would remember and I certainly didn’t think he would apologize.

“That’s alright, you turned it down if you don’t remember.” I smile over to Drake. He’s looking at me intently and I feel naked under his gaze.

“Of course I remember.” He says sarcastically with a small laugh. “I didn’t introduce myself, I’m Drake.” He warmly smiles over to me.

The elevator dings and the doors slowly open letting me and my neighbour out.

“I’m Harmony.” I turn to him as we exit the elevator.

“Well, hello Harmony.” He laughs at himself and I join in before turning away and giving him a small wave. He waves back and I make my way to the exit.

My eyes quickly scan the lobby and Hamish is not in sight. I haven’t seen him in a while, maybe because I have been so busy and my thoughts have been so consumed.
