Rue-
It had been a few months since the war, and Alexandria was coming together nicely, it was a very simple clean up actually, not as bad as we thought. A few of us were living there fixing it up, getting it ready for the people to come back, I was helping them make the gardening area. The houses were all fixed up, we were just working on apartments/ an inn for visitors like myself, but Rick still hadn't allowed me to live in one. This place was beautiful though, cushy that's for sure. Right now we were collecting the last of our things and people from the Hilltop.
"I'm going to miss our "talks"." I laughed nudging Daryl's shoulder.
"You should come back to Alexandria with us." Rick said to me," you helped us a lot, with everything, it wouldn't feel right without you there."
"I'd like to, I need to keep that garden alive." I joked and joined Daryl in the back of the truck, Carl, Rick, and Michonne sat inside the cab.
As we started driving... home, I kept seeing Daryl glancing at me. So just to mess with him I did the same thing, I would glance at him just as he was looking away, and I started laughing. As we drove in, the gate closing behind us, I looked at this very big community, filled with very nice big houses, a lot of land, and a very large garden that I had helped plant and keep alive. I was very proud to call this place home.
"So which one's yours?" I said overwhelmed to Daryl, he just ignored me.
Rick parked the truck, and we climbed out, I still looked around in awe." So tomorrow we can find a place a for you to stay, but for now, you're gonna be staying in the holding cell." I looked at him, a little irritated," I know, but this is my home, so it's just for tonight." He nodded at Daryl.
Daryl grabbed my shoulder, and led me through the streets of houses. On the way to the holding cell Daryl pointed out his house. We got to one house that looked pretty roughed up, that was closest to the wall. We went down a few steps, Daryl unlocked the door and led me in, we took a right, and there was my cell. He took my weapons and pack again, then pushed me in, not very hard, just enough to get me moving, then locked my cell door, and the front door. This was practically my home when we were rebuilding this place. Sometimes I would just sleep outside on someone's porch, or sleep in the stables with the horses.l, but one more night in the holding cell wouldn't hurt.
The sun was setting illuminating the room in orange light. I stood in front of the window taking in the last moments of sunlight. Today was a day, the only thing I wasn't exact on was how many people had I killed. The number I was guessing on I needed my knife before I forgot.
I went and sat in the makeshift bed, took off my jacket, relaxing in my hoodie, and grimy jeans. I laid down with my feet toward the door and my head bent down so I could look at Daryl. He sat with his knees up in front of him, his arms propped on top of them, picking at his fingers. I chewed on my tongue, and the inside of cheek, it was a bad habit, but I always tore up the inside of my mouth, I even chewed on my lips, pulling a layer of skin off. To be honest I had no clue why I did it. I watched all his little habits, finger picking, I did that too, when I was irritated, nail biting, lip biting, and cheek chewing, to many similar habits. I finally doze off watching him, pick and chew.
