They arrived at the diner; it was new and colourful. Oliver parked the car out the front, twirled the keys in his hand as he walked around to the other side of the car, opening the door for her. She took his hand, and he led her inside. The warmth of his touch made her heart flutter. There was something about him that made her smile uncontrollably. He opened the front door, and shuffled to the side, allowing her to step inside. They walked to the other end of the diner and sat on opposite sides of the booth to each other, allowing them to engage in as much conversation as they could, before she got lost in his eyes; his beautiful, hazel green eyes. It had happened several times for sure and she knew it would happen again.
The young waitress, Vi, came to the table and took the orders of Sabrina and of Oliver. While waiting for their food, they talked. They talked about anything and everything that came to mind. Science, politics, music, family, absolutely everything. When speaking about science, she noticed how passionate he was. The tone of his voice changed and his eyes widened. It was the cutest thing she had ever seen. Despite having the furthest from a clue what he was talking about, she sat there, resting her head in the palm of her hand, staring. Staring in awe of the person she was accompanied by, how did I get so lucky, she thought to herself. Sabrina felt herself getting lost in his eyes again. They were like stars. Beautiful, bright, and unlike anything she had ever seen before.
The food arrived to the table. Vi spoke aloud the order as she placed it in front of Sabrina and Oliver, however neither of them listened. Oliver was still talking about stars while she got lost in the ones in his eyes. The moment was perfect, and she was hoping it would last forever. He finished his story, and began to eat. She did the same. She went to drink from her strawberry milkshake only to realise they had forgotten a straw. She shrugged, picked up the glass and sipped. After pulling away from the rim of the glass, she saw Oliver begin to laugh. Before she could ask what was the matter, his fingers were wiping away the whipped cream moustache from the top of her lip. He brushed his thumb lightly over her lips, biting his own. He stared at her lips before locking eyes. She wanted to kiss him. My God did she want to kiss him. She looked down, smiling, blushing.
The tune in the background sounded familiar to Sabrina. It was her favourite song. In an instant, she lifted herself up out of the chair, pulling Oliver with her. With her hand lightly in his, she dragged him to the dance floor. They began to dance, as goofily as they could. They didn't laugh at each other, but rather with each other. His laugh was fun and genuine. His smile was beautiful, and his dance moves were...questionable. After a few minutes of dancing they were like lost puppies in each other's eyes. They felt as though they were the only ones in the room. He moved his hands down to her hips; slowly and smoothly. She felt tingles fall down her body with his hands, and her dimples once again began to show. She buried her head into his chest, and closed her eyes, smiling.
When she opened her eyes, she noticed the staff packing up; it was closing time at the diner. With her head still hidden away in his chest, he leaned in and whispered, "we should get out of here." She looked up, nodding. She went to pick up her things while Oliver payed the cheque. They walked out to the car, it was quite cool, and she began to shiver lightly. Concerned, Oliver removed his coat and instantly wrapped it around her shoulders, almost hugging her from behind. There were the butterflies again.
They got in the car and began the drive home. When they pulled up, he stopped the car and both Sabrina and Oliver stepped out of the car. They stood underneath the fairy lights hung in the tree outside her building.
"Thank you," she looked up at him, "I had a great time tonight."
"As did I," he replied, closing his eyes and kissing her on the forehead.
He opened them again, and she stared directly into them. Nothing was stopping her now. She moved her hands up to his face, lightly brushing his jawline. Even on the coolest of nights, she had never felt so warm. She kissed his nose, and before she knew it, he had pulled her in even closer. They stood there for a minute, enchanted by each other. He brushed her hair away from her face, and kissed her. He could no longer resist the temptation.
His hands fell from her hair back down to her hips. Hers made their way from the small of his back to his hair. Nothing in the world mattered anymore. She felt a smile creep onto her face. Never in her life had she felt so happy.
They pulled away and giggled. "I should go upstairs," she whispered, her voice couldn't go any higher. Their hug turned into hand holding, as they stood there swaying against the New York wind. He nodded, looking down and smiling.
"Goodnight, Oliver," she said, tip toeing to kiss him once more.
She stepped down, took off his coat and turned to go inside.
"Goodnight, my princess," he blew a kiss when she looked from inside her apartment block.
"I'll see you tomorrow."
She closed the door and began to walk up, the thought of his lips against hers sending chills up her spine. She felt magical, invincible, beautiful, incredible, and eager to see him again.
