Band room : Free period-
"Close your eyes." Mr. Patel said, I did. "Now, picture the piano keys in your mind." I did. "I want you to reach out and press the E key." I reached out, hesitating, and touched a key, it was a D. I opened my eyes, "Sorry." Mr. Patel sighed. "it's a hard talent to master." He sounded disappointed that I couldn't do it. "Oh yea" I asked him, standing up. "Take a seat, Mr. Patel." He did, watching me. "Now close your eyes." He did. "E please." He reached out and touched the E, perfect. "D." I ordered, he got it. "C." Damn, you couldn't get him. "Chopsticks?" I asked, thinking I got him. "High or low?" He asked. "Low." I replied. He positioned his fingers over the piano and played a perfect, low-version, of chopsticks. Damn. We spent the rest of that hour playing blind.
After that, before Government, I hunted for David; I wasn't sure why, but for some reason, knowing if he had sent me those flowers was vital. I found him, by his locker, he looked...impatient? Angry? What had happened between him, Rhea, and Libby? I tapped on his shoulder and he turned around, "Oh." He said. "It's you." He smiled faintly, "Who were you expecting, a twenty-pound skinner, more pretty, Rhea-type girl?" He frowned at me, "Cheyenne, stop. Don't do that?" "Do what?" I asked, getting angry. "Don't be like that." I rolled my eyes, "Whatever," God I was turning into Libby. "I just have one question." "It was nothing." He whispered. "Nothing?" I asked, arching my eyebrows. "It was one time and I was pissed at you, and drunk." "Wait, what are you talking about?" David looked at me, "Weren't you...asking me about, the Rhea thing?" I felt my heart break into pieces. "You-" I grabbed my chest, feeling it tightening. "You-" I tried taking a deep breath but it didn't work. "You slept with Rhea Johnson?"
David's head dropped. I stumbled backwards a few steps, anger was speeding up my heart rate, and making it so, so hard to breath. "Cheyenne, calm down." David said, watching me hyperventilate. "I thought you knew, I'm so sorry. What were you going to ask?" I clutched my stomach. I shallow breaths were upsetting Hayden and my sides started cramping. "Forget it. Ow, fuck!"
He reached out for me, "Are you okay?" "Don't touch me! Ow!, Ow, fuck." I cursed again, something was happening with Hayden. I bent over, clutching my sides. Footsteps running towards me, Libby, thank-god. "Libby, Hayden, ow!" "What happened?" She asked her brother. "I accidentally told her, about Rhea, I thought you had. She's like, hyperventilating, or something." Libby clutched my arms. "Cheyenne, you need to calm down. Calm down, now." I tried, but couldn't. "Libby, it hurts." She nodded and switched positions. "Stand-up, straight." I did, wincing. "Okay. One, two...three." On three she scooped me up into her arms; gently, but firmly. "We're going to the nurse." She informed me. I tried to respond but everything got blurry and then black.
A few hours later-
I woke-up in my bed room with my two-dozen roses next to my bed; Jamie was laying next to me, his face peaceful. I cuddled next to him. "Hey," He said, not opening his eyes. "What happened?" He wrapped his arms around me, "You had a panic attack. The doctor said you need to avoid stress or you can go into early labor." He paused. "the school got a note from her and will be sending your work, for the next two months, here." I concentrated on my breathing, not responding. "The doctor thinks that if you're at school, you're more likely to have another panic attack." No school until I have the baby. At first, I would have objected, wanting as much normalcy as possible, but now, I couldn't' care less. "Okay." I said. "And I'll tutor you." He added. "Why didn't Libby tell me?" I wondered out loud. "she didn't know." He assured me. "She told me she found out today, when she confronted Rhea..." I closed my eyes. "I hate her." I sobbed. "Libby?" He asked, "Because she was going to tell you, don't hate her..." "No," I said. "Not Libby, Rhea. She knew, she was the first to know, why would she do that?" Jamie squeezed me, "Because she's a dirty slut?" I laughed. "I still haven't figured out who sent me the flowers." I said, falling back to sleep. I felt Jamie stiffen. I was going to ask what was wrong, but I passed back out.
The hallway is dark and empty, I'm all alone. I start running down the corridor, calling out, "Anyone!" Suddenly, a tall figure steps into my path. Most certainly a he, with tanned skin. "Jamie!" I call, "I'm lost." He smiled. "I know, come on, I'll show you the way." I start to reach for his extended hand but another voice stops me. "Cheyenne." I turn around to see David standing on the other side of the hall. I know I should be mad at him, but I just don't have the energy for that here. "David?" I ask. "What are you doing here?" He looks sad, lost himself. "I need you. We need you." "We?" I ask. He holds out his hand, "Come with me, please. I miss you." I take a step towards him. "Cheyenne," Jamie says, from behind me. "Don't go with him, he left, I wont leave." I stand there, not sure where to go. Why were they making me choose? Couldn't I love them both? I was about to make my decision when the hallway faded out and my eyes snapped open.
Jamie was fast asleep next to me, hid blond hair scattered all over his face. I touched his cheek and cuddled next to him, falling into a dreamless sleep.
Staying home really as a stress reliever. I watched TV, read to my mom, brushed and played with the minis, and spent quality time with Jamie and his family. Some times, Libby would join us, or sometimes, we would join her. Mr. Patel called me two weeks after I left school, "Hey, we miss you here." He said. "We?" I questioned. "Er-well, me. I do, and the piano does." I laughed. "Doctors orders, school is too stressful." Mr. Patel thought about this, "Can I come to you then? If you're still willing, you have a competition coming up in less than two months." I thought about it now, and everything Mr. Patel had invested in me. "Okay, fine." I agreed. We set up for him to come every Wednesday and Friday after school until the competition. Time simply flew by after then.
Whoops! My bad! I got so carried away tying that I totally skipped over a part. So here it is, sorry about that again.
