First overnight visit with Hayden-

"Honestly Cheyenne, you look worn out. Just relax, eat, watch TV; whatever you want to do and I'll fully take care of Hayden and completely ignore you unless she needs to eat." I smiled at David and nodded. At first I had been reluctant to pretend that she wasn't here and I was just some vending machine waiting to be used, but now that I had actually sat back and kicked my legs up, I thought this was one of the best ideas David ever had.

In the back of my mind I pondered where Libby was, I mean it was still pretty early, but I had kind of expected her to be here, I asked Crystal. "Do you know where Libby is?" Crystal smiled and shook her head, "Yea, she met this guy at the mall and he invited her to a party...I don't think she'll be back tonight." I laughed and settled back into the couch, putting the TV on a Buffy the Vampire Slayer re-run.

"So I can just take her room tonight then?" I asked Crystal. "Of course you can sweetie, you didn't have to ask."

Although it was nice not having to check up on Hayden every few minutes, I began feeling a separation anxiety that only a mother could relate to. I looked at the clock below the TV and decided that it was because Hayden would be getting hungry soon.

I got up and went down the hallway towards David's room. I contemplated knocking on the door, but then decided not to, in case Hayden was sleeping. I quietly creaked the door open and smiled. David had set up a pillow barrier around one of the edges of his bed and had Hayden right next to it, David was laying next to her, his arm wrapped protectively around her.

I saw her wiggling her legs, crunching them up and grabbing her toes like all babies tend to do, and decided to get to her before she started crying. As I reached down to touch her face, David opened his eyes.

"Hey, I thought you were suppose to be 'not here'." He chuckled. "I am 'not here', but Hayden needs to eat so I decided to come and feed her before she starts getting fussy." David sat up and rubbed his eyes, he lifted Hayden up and handed her to me. "She's a good baby, doesn't seem to cry much." I shook my head, "No, she rarely does. Maybe, once in the night, around midnight, but Jamie discovered if you just rock her for a while she falls back to sleep, and then she wakes up at five to eat."

I noticed David had a disgruntled look on his face and I decided it was because I had mentioned Jamie, to avoid conflict I said, "So I'm going to go feed her. I'll bring her back when I'm done." David nodded and ran his hand through his messy hair. I smiled, not thinking, and reached over with my free hand to grab his hair. "Its getting kind of long, don't you think?" David closed his eyes and leaned into my hand, I left it there for a minute and then pulled back.

"So-uh, I'll be back." I rushed, and carried Hayden out into the living room.

To say that my boobs were 'engorged' would be an understatement. I felt like they were boulders and were going to fall off at any minute. I left Hayden on the right boob until I felt relief and then switched her to the left boob. Crystal came in and sat down, watching me feed her.

"It gets kind of uncomfortable huh? The fullness." She added. I nodded and sighed, leaning my head back. "You should buy a breast pump, that way you can relieve them when you need to, and other people can feed her too. It'll still be your milk, but you wouldn't have to be the one to wake up every few hours to feed her." I thought about this, "That actually sounds like a really good idea."

When Hayden finished eating, I burped her and then held her out in front of me. "You're a beautiful little girl, do you know that?" Her blue eyes drifted around for a while and then started closing. I sighed and cradled her back into my chest. David was waiting for us, sitting up in bed, reading. "Oh my god, someone get a camera, is David studying?"
