Me and Luke had spent all of Saturday in bed and watching movies. It was the happiest I had been in a long time. Luke would run his hands through my hair while I traced circles on his chest. He would go get me medicine whenever it was time to take more and he would get me anything I wanted to eat or drink. We watched every movie he bought and even some he already had all while we were wrapped up in each others arms. Luke couldn't seem to get enough of saying I love you and neither could I.
I had been awake for a while but I let Luke sleep. His hair fell over his face and got caught up with his long eyelashes. His soft breathes made us rise and fall together in time with his chest. My fingers drew invisible images onto his stomach while my eyes remained closed and tried to find sleep again. From beside me I heard my phone begin to buzz and I turned to grab it from the bedside table. It had been a text from the girl at the party named Penny.
The message read: Hey, I can meet you at West Side Mall in 30 minutes to give you the stuff
I quickly wrote a reply saying that I would be there and started to get out of bed. Luke stirred beside me as I removed his arm from around my waist. He mumble some inaudible words before rolling over and continuing to sleep. As I made my way over to my bag I picked up my shoes that were next to the bed and then made my way out of the door.
Once I shut the bedroom door I went into the kitchen and grabbed a pin and paper. I quickly scribbled a note saying that I was going to meet Ashton for lunch before walking out the front door. Luke, Ashton and Me all lived in the same neighborhood so our houses were walking distance from one another. I began walking the two blocks to my house in order to pick up my car.
The weather was defiantly starting to cool off and show signs of winter. I pulled Lukes hoodie tighter against my body while I continued to walk. Only a couple of cars passed me since it was Sunday morning and everyone was either sleeping or at church. I rounded the corner that lead down the block that my house sat on. Two cars sat in our driveway, my moms and mine. I had told her that I was staying at Ash's this weekend and since she loves him, there was no problem.
I pulled the cars keys I always keep in my pursed out of my bag and unlocked the door before getting in. Turning on the heat was the first thing I did then turning on the radio.
The roads were not to busy for an eleven o'clock drive which I didn't mind. When I was only minutes away I sent Penny a text asking where at the mall she wanted to meet and she told me in front of the main entrance. I parked near the back and unbuckled my seat belt, getting ready her to arrive.
It wasn't long before she pulled up beside me and as soon as she did I felt my phone start to ring in my lap. I looked down and saw Luke trying to lick my face while I laughed in the picture. Ignoring the call I threw the phone into the passengers seat and rolled down my window as Penny walked around to my drivers side window.
"Hey, how many do you want?" She said getting straight to the point.
"Um twenty? I guess." I said, unsure of the amount that I would need for the upcoming week. She turned around and opened her passenger door and bent down to get something. I could see her hands moving around inside her car before she sat up and turned back to me.
"That will be fifty dollars." Penny said while holding her hand out to me with one hand and a plastic bag in the other.
"Shit, thats a lot of money." I say slightly regretting this transaction but not enough to turn back. My wallet was soon in my hand and I was pulling the money out from inside.
"Its good stuff, but I don't have to tell you that because you already know. Wouldn't be coming back for more if you didn't think so. " She said with a smirk before taking the money and continuing. "How bad was your hang over?" But I didn't have to reply because she could tell by the look on my face that it wasnt good.
"Well these will always do the trick." Penny said while shaking the bag and putting into my hand. "Text or call when you need more." Before I could respond to her offer she was already walking back towards her car.
I watch her pull away before rolling up my window and sliding the plastic bag into my purse. Next to my bag I see me phone lit up again signaling that someone was calling. Instead of Luke this time, it was now Ashton. I debate sending it to voicemail but decide otherwise and answer it.
"Hey?" I say into the phone.
"Where the hell are you?" Ashton said sounding very angry. I instantly felt a pit form in my stomach.
"What do you mean?" My voice wavered a little while I was trying to sound clueless.
"Luke just called me asking if you ever got to me for lunch. He wanted to make sure you were okay." Ash was yelling into the phone now. He was like my big brother and had seen me through my ups and downs. He probably could have guessed what I was doing since I had gone down a similar path before. I felt awful for putting him in that position but I felt worse knowing that he probably outed my lie to Luke.
"I covered for you but I want to know what you are doing." I let out a sigh of relief at Ashtons reply. He most likely read my mind when I took to long to respond. His voice had changed into a caring almost sympathetic tone.
"Well do you want to get lunch?" I said with a slight laugh behind my words. Ashton did the same kind of chuckle before responding.
"You kill me you know that? But yes. I will meet you at Marvins Pizza and you are treating me." He said.
"I love you Ash." I said to my best friend. "I love ya too." He said before hanging up.
It was true, I loved Ashton more then I could say. He had been there through everything with me and he still put up with my shit. First he was there when my dad died then when I had an eating problem. I knew how much it hurt him seeing me act like this so now the only question was if I lie or not..
