After drowning myself in Netflix and eating 5 tubs of icecream, I found myself still sad and pathetic. I have read enough young adult novels in my life time to know heart break but experiencing this in real life was much worse. I wasn't even dating Luke but the chance of having something and not being able to has caused me enough pain and probably my figure. As soon as I had gotten home from school I had grabbed my laptop and junk food. After slipping on my purple north face sweat shirt and sweat pants I laid in bed all day and only talked to my Mom when she came home from her shift. Plus the non stop calls from Luke and Ashton asking where I was and why I left school, I never answered them but I did text Ashton telling him I was still alive but in need of alone time.
I was now 12 hours into my Gossip Girl marathon and maybe I had just found an answer to my problems. Blair and Serena always got over one guy with another and maybe I need to do just that! With a new resolve I sprung from my bed and marched into the living room and straight for my car keys. As I took them from the gold hook I'm the kitchen, I was hit with the realization that it was 3 in the morning and headed back to bed.
Tomorrow was going to be the day I became outgoing and got me a new man to take to Ashton's party. How hard could it be really? All I had to do was be cute and flirt with him enough to look over my flaws. I could so do this, all I needed now was beauty rest. My smile never left my face as I turned off my laptop, snuggled under my covers and let the hope of a new life take me to sleep..-.-.-.-.
Even though I had only gotten 4 hours of sleep the night before I was cheerful and had a spring in my step Tuesday morning. "Someone is happy this morning." My mom glanced at me over the rim of her coffee cup as she sat on the couch watching the local news. She looked small and frail compared to the large cushions next to her. "I do feel very happy today, I have a feeling something good will happen at school." I skipped into the kitchen to make me a bagel and pour some orange juice. My teal v-neck shirt showed just the right amount of cleavage to be attractive and my dark blue skinny jeans made my ash colored Toms stand out. My out fit was simple but also beautiful in my opinion, it flaunted my figure perfectly and made my blue eyes pop.
I quickly sucked down my orange juice and started eating my bagel as I walked into my room to grab my backpack and head to school. My hair was pencil straight and parted to the side, and I had put on gold shimmer on my eyelids and along my cheek bones. To add some flair to my dull lashes I lathered on mascara. My look was perfect and I also smelled perfect with my Paris amour perfume from Bath and Body Works. "I will be home later Mom, do you work the late shift?"
"I go in at noon, so I should be home around midnight." I gave her a quick peck on the check before grabbing my penny board and heading out into the crisp fall air. It was October 20 so in a week or two these streets would be flooded with little kids in costumes going door to door asking for candy. I always loved Halloween but being a 17 among 7 year old's is a little frowned upon. One year me and Ashton dressed up as the ninga turtles and we ran around trying to get more candy then each other. That was our last year of dressing up and we were 12. I miss those good times, being care free and not worrying about boys or girls and what they thought.
"Hey there stranger." Luke came rolling up beside me on his penny board and we rode beside each other. "Hey there Blondie." The trees moved beside us as we made our way to school. "How was your first day yesterday?" "It was okay, same old school I remember." He shrugged his shoulders as he gazed up and down the street. "I am so excited about Ashton's party this weekend." Luke looked at me as if I was crazy. "Really? You don't seem like the party type." "Excuse me sir but I love to party, you just haven't seen me in action yet." Luke laughed at my statement as we rolled into the school parking lot. People hung out through out the maze of cars and up near the school. Some people were even smoking to left of the school by the forest. Ashton was right in the middle of it all with his group of friends. The group ranged from smarty's to jocks to goths. Ashton had a way of bringing people together, he always talked to everyone and everyone always liked him. Its due to this that he knew everyone in school and if he didn't know them personally he knew someone who did. "Hey Ash." I gave him a quick hug after I hopped off my board and picked it up. "Hey, how have you been?" "I have been great!" I practically jumped when I talked, I have never been so excited to pick up a boy in my life. It was time to move on and I was more the happy to find another guy. "Well thats great that you are great." Ash giggled at my enthusiasm. Him and Luke started talking about some video game so I took the chance to scan the crowd for a boy.
No.
No.
Next,
Ew gross.
Was there any cute guys here? All I have seen is strange looking guys that dont even look like they have hit puberty yet. This might be a little harder then I thought. My impatience slowly grew as I kept scanning the mass of people before me. I was just about to give up hope when I saw him standing on the other side of the parking lot. His jet black hair fell into his bright green eyes that were a big contrast to his almost white skin. He looked like a nightmare dressed like a daydream and the worse part was that he had gauges the size of my pinky and a black bar going through his eyebrow. My heartbeat started to pick up as I stood there watching him talk to his friends, they were all standing by the smokers near the forest and he seemed to be the only one not smoking. There was something about this boy that told me to come closer but to also stay far away, good thing I was never one to do the right thing. "Ashton! What is that guys name?" I grabbed the collar of his shirt and brought him towards me. It took him a moment to compose himself after being pulled out of his conversation with wide mouthed Luke. Ashton then followed my finger and saw who I was pointing at. "Oh that is Eli Pierce, he keeps to the shadows most of the time so all I know that he is bad news." So that is why I had never noticed him before, I let go of Ash's shirt and a smirk of pure mischief came onto my face. Out of the corner I could see Ashton looking between me and Eli. "Oh no Ainsley. He is bad news, you don't-" I cut him off by giving him and Luke a quick a hug before making my way towards the green eyed boy before me. Maybe it was the fact that I had tunnel vision but it seemed as if everyone parted for me to walk through the parking lot and closer to Eli. I was pleasantly surprised when my confidence didn't flatter the whole time. This was it, this was the moment were I became a new and improved Ainsley. I was almost to him and I could see his head start to turn towards me. The whole world was in slow-mo and it was as if I could see every hair on his head move places and his eye lids slowly closed and opened again as he blinked. The best part was when a slow smile spread across his soft pink lips. He turned to his friends as if dismiss them and then he turned his whole body towards me and crossed his arm across his black and white stripped shirt. My eyes trailed down his body to his black skinny jeans and all black converse. "Well hello there." The words sounded like silk coming from his mouth. "Hey, my name is Ainsley." I was trying to pull off confidence and I hope it was working. "Oh I know who you are." "Oh really?" I smile crept onto my face. "Yeah, you are the best friend of Ashton Irwin and the lady friend of Luke." Shock was probably clear on my face, did everyone think I was Luke's girl? I had only been talking to him for a couple of days and now im his girl? "I am not his girl? I am no ones girl." When I tried to keep my confidence and I took a step closer to Eli. Of course I already knew his name but I couldn't let him know that. "So whats your name?" I looked up at him from under my eyelashes, trying my best to flirt. "My name is Eli, my friends told me to not touch Luke's girls because he can be protective but good thing I don't follow many rules." We were inches apart now and I could feel my breath hitch in my throat. "So does the rule breaker have a phone number?" He grabbed my hand and scribbled some numbers onto it with the pen he got from his pocket. "Don't lose it." He winked at me before walking back towards his friends. I stood there speechless for a moment looking at the mark left on my skin. I smiled to myself as I turned back to walk towards Luke and Ashton but it soon faded when I saw the death glare Luke was sending me. Right as I was about to head his way and ask what was his problem the loud bell sounded over the intercom signaling first period was about start. Our argument would have to wait in till lunch.
