Everytime we break up
We turn around and we make up
Mama wonderin' when I'm gon' wake up
But he love my face with no makeup
And every time I call him
We end up having a problem
And I know we'll probably never solve it
But damn I really love him
There's something between us
A certain fire in our love
It's unreleasable
It's unbelievable
We're miserable apart but
together it's so hard
All I need to know
Oh all I need to know
How could my ex boyfriend be my next boyfriend?

Tonaya pushed her shopping cart through the aisles of a store, in search of a birthday gift for her father. She was on the phone with Willow and would soon be making her way to Chris for an afternoon of relaxation and to say goodbye since she and Mariah would be leaving for Arizona the next day.

"How are you really feeling about going to see your dad?" Willow asked Tonaya while she was getting her hair done at a salon in Atlanta.

"I don't really know," Tonaya answered honestly, "Do you think I'm crazy for still being upset that he left us to be with his mistress and her kids?"

"I don't think so. You say you loved your dad a lot when you were little."

"Yeah but, this happened nearly a decade ago, Dub, but I can't let it go. And now Mariah wants us to go celebrate his birthday with his new family."

"Try to have a good time. He's still your dad and I don't think he loves you any less, babe."

"I guess." Tonaya sighed, "I don't know what to get him as a gift."

"My dad loved records."

"Maybe I should get that for mine. He loves his old school music."

"He'll love it, I'm sure."

"Thanks for helping me out and listening to my ranting." Tonaya smiled.

"It's no problem. How's Mariah? Is she looking forward to the party?"

"Very much. She's always been a daddy's girl. She got her gifts bought and wrapped already at the start of the week."

"Gifts? Like, more than one?"

"Yeah," Tonaya chuckled, "she wants to go all out this year. Dad's turning 50."

"Damn. She's gonna outshine you. You better get your dad a rock from the moon or something."

"Don't you wanna come with?" Tonaya asked, "it'll be less awkward with you there."

"Aye, you know I'd love to but..."

"You and Aug have plans?"

"Not really but I just don't like being caught in family situations. Sorry!"

Tonaya rolled her eyes, "Fine. Let me suffer, why won't you?"

"Go with Chris." Willow grinned.

Tonaya started blushing at the mention of his name.
