"He's not about to change his plans now, right?" Mariah rubbed her lips together after applying some pink lipstick to them.
"No, Mariah." Tonaya tried not to roll her eyes as she put on her mascara.
They were sharing the bathroom mirror, adding the finishing touches to their looks before leaving for dinner with Chris.
"He better not. I have a bone to pick with him about all that." Mariah put her lipstick down and fixed her hair.
"Can we have no drama tonight, please?" Tonaya pleaded, "this is meant to be for you and Chris to learn to get along."
"I don't see the point if y'all gon' break up soon, but okay."
"Mariah."
"I'll try to be civil."
"Thank you."
"C'mon, we gotta go." Maria took her cosmetics and left for her room.
Tonaya took a few extra minutes to finish getting ready. She grabbed her cosmetics and went to pack them into an overnight bag she'd left on her bed, then she carried it out to the car where Mariah was waiting.
"You stayin' there?" Mariah questioned once Tonaya got in her seat after leaving her bag in the trunk.
"Yes." Tonaya put her seatbelt on.
Mariah shook her head and started her car.
They got to Chris' and Tonaya let herself in with Mariah following.
Sir Charles had been eating in the kitchen when he heard Tonaya call for Chris and he went running to meet her.
"Hey, puppy!" Tonaya picked the dog up and rubbed him, "Hey, baby! Say hi to aunty Mariah!"
Mariah smiled at the dog.
"I'm not your aunty but you cute as hell. What's your name?" Mariah scratched Charles' ears.
"Sir Charles," Tonaya introduced, "he's mine and Chris'."
Mariah's eyes grew but she kept smiling.
Chris soon walked to the foyer to greet his guests-- Mariah with an awkward hug and Tonaya with a few pecks to the lips.
"Welcome," he told Mariah.
She'd never been to Chris' house before and she was lowkey impressed as she looked around.
"Thank you," Mariah adjusted the strap of her handbag on her shoulder.
"Dinner's almost ready so... maybe you can get comfortable?" Chris looked at Tonaya.
"I'll help you finish up. Let's get something to drink first then I'll show Mariah to the lounge." Tonaya smiled.
"I don't mind watching y'all cook." Mariah said.
Chris looked at Tonaya who shrugged, then they all went to the kitchen-- Charles too.
Tonaya washed her hands at the sink while Chris poured some wine for the three of them. Mariah got seated at the breakfast bar and Charles got back to his dinner.
