I don't know why I even try
Cause you don't want this no more
I would rather leave before I hurt you
And I woulda died long ago
If I ain't have my faith
I see you starting to hate me
I see it in your face
...
I'm starting to hate me
(A little more and more each day)
I don't know me
(It's like I can't get out of my own way)
You don't love me
You don't love me
If I knew better, I would do betterDo Better- Chris Brown

Chris had just made it to the door of the cabin he shared with Tonaya when he heard her cry over the phone. From her now lonely apartment, Mariah called her sister to check on her. She missed her. On this break that Tonaya was on, Mariah had wished that she'd get a chance to do normal sisterly things with her famous sister but she was away with other famous people instead and that made Mariah a little jealous.
Her heart broke when she realised just how crushed Tonaya was. She was far from ready to be socialising with people when clearly, she was still impacted by what had happened to her. Mariah only prayed that Tonaya had stayed off social media because it wasn't looking good. While that bitter side chick was still at it, exposing Rakim even more, the media was having a field day with all of this, writing gossip column after gossip column about naive Tonaya and her record of shitty relationships.
"Maybe you should go home, T. Home-home to mom or dad. They miss you a lot. And nobody knows about sore breakups like they do." Mariah said to her sister.
"I thought I needed time away, you know? I'm in the middle of nature. This should be the best place to get my mind right." Tonaya said.
"It doesn't seem to be helping, especially with Chris there. Whose bright idea was it to invite him anyway?"
"Willow's."
"And she calls herself your best friend? You're going through a lot as it is. The fuck do you need Chris in the mix for?"
Being only two years older than Tonaya, Mariah took her big sister role to heart and she always had, ever since she could talk. She never wanted anything to happen to her baby sister and heaven help you if you crossed the line. Chris knew very well that he was in Mariah's bad books so he kept his distance. If Tonaya wouldn't ruin Chris' things like she did Rakim's, Mariah would do it if Tonaya asked her to and she'd even go a step further and set a house alight if it meant it would give Tonaya some peace of mind.
"She meant well, Mimi. It's fine." Tonaya said, "we haven't fought so it's fine, I guess."
"You need to come back home." Mariah insisted. "Where are you? I could come fetch you myself and have a talk with Willow while I'm at it."
"That's not necessary, sis. I'm fine."
"You don't sound fine."
Tonaya sighed and ran her fingers through her now loose hair as she looked at the dark wooden floors beneath her sock-covered feet.
Chris pushed open the door to the cabin and frowned at the sight of the girl he still loved so much, despite the ill decisions he'd made in the past which resulted in them being on bad terms as they currently were.
