After my talk with Carol I heard Jenner telling us to "Follow me". We all stood up and walked behind the doctor out the room we sat in.
We all followed him into the big room were he proceeded to talk out loud to the computer "play back of TS-19" he said as he pressed a couple of keys on the computers keyboard and the loud speakers copied his words "a few people get a chance to see this" he said as we gathered around him. I was near the back as rick walked beside me.
On the bored in front of us was a projecter with a woman's face on it "is that a brain?" Carl asked as he looked at Jenner.
"An extraordinary one" he answered the young boy as he looked back at the picture and smiled as he thought it was cool
The picture moved to the side as everyone around me looked confused, including me. As it zoomed in we could see inside. "What are those lights? " Shane asked as me and Daryl both looked at him but moved our eyes to look at each other. I felt uncomfortable under his stare and moved my eyes to Jenner
"It's a person's life" he answered Shane "experiences, memories... everything" he explained as he mentioned to the board "somewhere in all those ripples of light, is you" he pointed to Shane "it's the thing that makes you unique and human"
"this person died? Who?" Andrea asked as she got closet to Jenner
"Test subject 19" he answered her but continued "someone who was bit, infected and volunteered to have us record the process" he finished explaining
"VI have us fast forward to the first event" he said as the computer copied his words again. As the picture because in focus again, for the most part, it had turned black.
"What is that?" Glenn asked
"it invaded the brain like meningitis. The brain goes into shut down and then the major organs" he said as the picture showed the person breathing getting faster and the whole brain turned black with a tinge of red "then death" he said as he looked down. I had a feeling he knew this person well, maybe a sibling? A wife? "Everything you ever were or will be.... gone"
" is that what happened to Jim?" Sophia asked her mother as she held her hand tight. Carol nodded at her daughter as everyone looked sad.
"She lost somebody a few days ago, her sister" Lori said, talking about Andrea
Jenner walked upto her as she was on the verge of tears "I lost somebody too, I know how devistating it is" he said as she looked up at the doctor who was now trying to comfort her.
"Scan to second event" he said as the computer, again copied his words. "We've had reports of this happening in as little as threes minutes. The longest report was eight hours and in the patient it was two"
The brain restarted as little lights kept moving around again. "It restartes the brain?" Lori asked in shock
"No, just the stem. Basically it gets them up and moving-" he said before Rick cut him off
"But they're not alive"
He looked at Rick and walked towards him, gesturing to the board "you tell me"
"It's nothing like before, most of that brain is dark" rick said as Jenner explained how it works
I kept my eye on the board as a quick, straight line shot though it's head. "God, what was that?" Carol asked
"He shot his patient in the head" I said as everyone turned to me for a second before looking at the board again. Everyone but Daryl, his eyes stayed on me for longer than everyone else before I walked away from where I was standing.
As Jenner began to explain how he was the last of the facilities and he also didn't know what this was everyone began asking him questions
"I'd hate to ask you one more question" dale said as he walked around the tables and pointed to a clock counting down from one hour "that clock, it's counting down. What happens at zero?"
"The... basement generators, they run out of fuel" i could tell that wasn't what really happens, I could tell from his words and body movement. He wasn't completely lying, nor telling the truth. Something much more worse will happen when that clock reaches zero, and I know it.
"And then?" Rick asked as Jenner walked away from him, not answering his question.
"VI. what happens when the generators run out?" Rick said out loud as the computer talked back
"When the generators run out decontamination will accur" it said as I stood in shock, knowing exactly what will happen
Rick, Glenn, Shane and T-Dog rushed down the stairs to the basement as Glenn kept asking what that meant, but no one knew.
The rest of the group went back to their rooms, as me and Daryl. As we got in none of us spoke a word, and it felt awkward after knowing what he feels about me.
Everyone came out their room as Jenner Walked past, asking why the lights and air conditioning was off.
"The energy uses up power. It's not up to me, the place is shutting itself down" he said as he walked down the hall and everyone followed
"Wha? Wha the hell's that mean?" Daryl said as Jenner didn't answer him "hey man, I'm talkin to ya. How can it shut down? How can a buildin do tha?" He asked one more time and this time he got an answer
"You'd be surprised." He said as rick and the rest caught up with us
I looked at the clock to see we only had 31 minutes left. Rick told us to get our stuff as we were leaving but before we got out the door an ear hurting alarm blasted out the loud speakers as I panicked and the door shut. Glenn started shouting and Daryl starting hitting Jenner but was quickly pulled away but Shane, but that quickly scared are me more. My breaths got quicker and knee's got weak as I colapsed on the ground, but moved so I was resting on one of the tables.
