Part: 1
"Don't you two stay away for too long! Please come back to visit soon!" Eomma Park shouted from the front door. Tears welling in her eyes, she waved her son and son-in-law off as the small vehicle they inhabited reversed out of the drive way.
Settling into their seats for the long trip back to Seoul, the two boys fell into a comfortable silence, the only sound being the soundtrack of the radio softly playing.
"Chanyeol," Baekhyun asked for the younger's attention.
"Hm," He replied, focusing on the road ahead.
Playing uncomfortably with his fingers, Baekhyun mumbled out his main concern. "... what are we going to do when we get back to Seoul? Where do we go? They've found me at your apartment once.."
Chanyeol could take in his lover's worried tone. Grabbing his left hand, the giant began rubbing soft circles into the skin with his calloused thumb.
"Baek, remember that time I said I'd protect you at all cost, I didn't just stay it to trick you into marriage." The younger reassured. "Plus, You haven't opened my wedding gift yet."
Quizzically, Baekhyun studied Chanyeol's expression; to which the giant just smirked. Releasing the smaller boy's hand, Chanyeol popped open the latch on the vehicle's centre console; the lid of the arm rest flinging open. While trying to keep the car steady, Chanyeol fished a small white box out and passed it to Baekhyun; closing the rest's top with his elbow. Baekhyun gazed curiously at the small box. It wasn't much bigger than the palm it sat on. On the top of the lid in black pen it read 'To: My Bae-khyun' which Baekhyun had to roll his eyes at. Again with the Bae..
Carefully opening the lid as to not disrupt whatever was inside; Baekhyun began removing the white tissue blocking the way.
"Chanyeol.. what's this?" Baekhyun asked, gazing at the small metallic object.
"That is what you call a key," Chanyeol began matter-of-factly.
Hitting the younger's arm, Baekhyun threw out a 'yah' in annoyance. "I know what a damn key is pabo, but why are you gifting me a key?"
"Correction, us a key," Chanyeol corrected the other. "I figured my apartment wasn't going to suffice as prime living space when we came back, so the week leading up to the wedding I spent looking all over Seoul for another apartment. I think you're really going to like it, and it's closer to downtown than I used to live, so we living fancy.. well, fancy for me. Not as fancy as your old place." The giant explained to a shocked Baekhyun.
".. you didn't.." The other began, staring at the small key lying in his hand.
"Oh, I did." Chanyeol cut in, smiling proudly.
"But, how did you afford it?" Baekhyun questioned. Chanyeol has been doing way too much, he honestly didn't need to go out and put all this money down on a new apartment. Baekhyun was ok with living in some fear if it was the cheaper option!
"Remember when I said a gift for us? Well it is technically from us as well. I may have used the money you forwarded me for the honeymoon for the down payment. So technically you paid, I searched and moved things in; joint effort!" Chanyeol explained. From the corner of his eye he saw Baekhyun move; flinching to the side he braced himself for the contact of Baekhyun's hand.
"Thank you." Baekhyun mumbled. "For thinking of me."
Slowly, Chanyeol released the tension from his body; grasping on to Baekhyun's left had again. "You're going to love it, I promise. It's a new beginning for us."
