The next three weeks went by fairly quickly. While Paul was touring through parts of the U.S., Tessa was busy preparing for her move to the company. This included tying up any loose ends at the school, figuring out a living situation for next year, and filling out loads of paperwork. It meant that for a while, she would barely have a moment to breathe, let alone, think of Paul.
In fact, besides a phone call the night after the Ed Sullivan show, Tessa and Paul didn't talk to each other for those whole three weeks. It had been so long, that Tessa took it as a sign that their little fling was over.
So, it was quite a shock when, over a week after he returned from the two week American tour, Paul made contact with Tessa.
That particular day had been especially crazy. Tessa had spent the morning visiting the company and even gave a small interview to commemorate the occasion.
"Hullo?" She replied. Well, there goes that nap.
The door opened and a girl who Tessa only recognized as one of the younger dancers poked her head inside.
"Sorry to bother you, but there's some guy on the phone for you." The mousey looking girl, hurriedly said.
"Oh, no, that's alright." Tessa replied. She nodded her head and the young girl ran off, satisfied with completing her task.
Tessa smiled as she walked down towards the phone, having a very clear idea of who it could be. She grabbed the phone that was lying off it's cradle and held it up to her ear.
"Hello?"
"TessaLouise?"
"Speaking. Is this James Paul?" Tessa asked, as she felt a slight blush heat up her cheeks. Although, she she didn't even need to ask. He had quite the recognizable accent.
"This is." He replied. "Are you free this week?"
"Uh," Tessa was thrown back for a second. "Yeah. Starting on Monday, I have three days with nothing going on."
"Well, now you do."
"What? Paul, I'm confused."
"Just pack your bags, I'll come pick you up on Monday."
"Wait! Paul-"
Beeeep
Tessa pulled the phone out and stared at it for a few moments. The conversation was so short and unexpected, that she wondered if it even happened.
She shrugged her shoulders and set the phone back on its cradle. Walking back to her room, she wondered what Paul had planned for Monday. Something big, apparently, by the way he wanted her to have bags packed. Or maybe, he was just saying that to throw her off and they actually weren't going to far.
She stepped inside her room and saw Franny laying on her own bed, looking put out.
"What gives? I thought we were gonna be napping buddies, and then I wake up to find you gone!" She seemed angry, until she noticed how Tessa wasn't even listening to her. "What's going on?"
"Paul just called me."
"Really?" Franny raised her eyebrows. "It's been a while since you've heard from him. What did he have to say?"
"He told me to pack my bags and that he'll pick me up on Monday." Tessa said.
"And where's he taking you?" Franny wondered.
"I don't know. He didn't say." Tessa sighed and laid down on her bed. She felt suddenly exhausted.
"He didn't say? What's that supposed to mean?" Franny stared at Tessa, confused.
