Tessa was sitting on her bed, trying to finish up her math homework for the next day, when she heard a knock at the door.
"Come in!" She yelled without even looking up from her textbook. She turned down the volume of the radio, which she had kept next to herself all day, hoping to hear how Paul was doing in New York.
Tessa heard the door slowly creak open. She waited for the person to say something, but they stood there silent.
"You know, you don't have- Oh." Tessa stopped when she saw who it was.
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were busy, I can come back later."
"No, Franny, it's fine. I needed an excuse to not have to finish this anyway." Tessa joked, pointing to her homework. When Franny only gave a slight smile in response, Tessa became serious. "You can come in, you know. Is there something you needed? I thought you had all your stuff out already."
"Actually-" Franny hesitated for a second. "I was hoping to move all my stuff back in."
"What?"
"I want to move back in.. If you'll have me, that is." Franny clarified.
"Uh, yeah, definitely. Why the sudden change of mind?" Tessa asked, curiously. She watched as Franny nervously fiddled around, playing with a package in her hands. "You seemed to adamant that you wouldn't come back."
"I guess it took me a week to realize what an ass I was to you." Franny sheepishly laughed.
"Well, I'm glad you figured it out eventually." Tessa shrugged. She watched as Franny walked inside the room and sat across from Tessa on her normal bed.
"I didn't intend to be so.. mean to you, I think I was just really hurt and jealous that I didn't make it into the company and you did. If I could take it back, I would." Franny insisted.
"I get it, believe me. I'd probably do the same thing if I didn't get in to the company." Tessa said. "Heck, I'd probably do worse. Commit arson on the Royal Ballet or something."
"I think you'd almost be justified in that. If the company was ever that crazy to not admit you, well, they'd have it coming." Franny joked.
Tessa felt her mouth drop open, surprised that Franny would say that. Still, she wasn't wrong. The company would have to be crazy, not to offer her a place.
"So, we're friends again, right? No more hard feelings." Franny looked at Tessa questioningly.
"Of course. I'm just glad you aren't mad at me anymore." Tessa replied, a feeling of relief washed over her.
"Pff!" Franny waved away Tessa's comment. "You had nothing to do with it. This was just a case of me letting my jealousy get the best of me."
"Well, I'm glad you finally got your act together. I was getting pretty lonely in this room." Both girls looked at each other, laughing at the joke.
"So, you never told me-" Franny changed the subject. "How was your date with Paul?"
"Oh, it was good." Tessa said casually. She stood up and grabbed her books, setting them down on her desk. "Wealsohadsex." Tessa mumbled, while still looking away from Franny.
"Wait! What did you say?" Franny questioned.
"Oh, just that, last night was good." Tessa replied.
"No no no, after that."
"Oh, we um-" Tessa stuttered
"TessaLouise, I want you to turn around and look me in the eye." Franny insisted when Tessa was still refusing to look at her. "I need to know if you're serious."
