I watched the rain drops race down the window. The screeching of the wind shield wipers caught my attention back to the road; to reality.
I had no clue where I was going. I just needed to go for a drive... by myself. I snuck out this morning before anyone got up, and grabbed the car keys to the car. I was hoping that no one was worrying about me.
I looked at the passengers seat, and stared at the black screen of my phone. I had turned it off, not wanting to be disturbed during the silence of the rain falling onto the window. I tapped a tune with my finger tips on the steering wheel.
It isn't that busy on the road this morning. It was Sunday so it made sense; everyone was sleeping in or drinking a cup of warm coffee in the light of the fireplace. But here I was driving in the middle of a rain storm, thinking of what's to come in the next few days.
Every day Nicklaus comes over and we have a conversation about the past. He never mentioned anything about the conversation we had a week ago; the tigers. He seemed to avoid it, and was stuck talking about my family, and ancestors. He never even mentioned the dates when things accord. He just told me the 'important' stuff, is what he said.
Every morning I would sit on the front porch sipping coffee, and tried to keep my hands busy with the bag of candy in my hand. He would just walk up to the house and sit right next to me, like he had nothing better to do. I would sit there listening to him for hours until Elena yelled at me to come inside for dinner. All of the stuff he told me made me think I would have to write it all down in my head, but all of it just stuck with interest.
Elena still hasn't caught him and me talking yet, but she doesn't seem to try. She's always at the Salvatore's house, or up in her room. She was starting to back off a little now after our cat fight. Even though she tried to stay out of my business you could tell that she was still worried about me. I just ignored the feeling of her eyes boreing in my back when I went back outside.
I pulled the car to a halt on the side of the road, and leaned back in my seat. Unwanted stress was following me where ever I was. I had no reason to be stressed out, but I still had that tension in my head like something was bugging me. My eyes had gotten to twitching alot lately. I had told Elena, and she admittedly told me to rest, and to not worry about anything. But the thing was, I wasn't worried, or stressed. I was actually happier then I've ever been in a while, but that's not how my body felt. My finger tips would ache for hours, and my emotions seemed to be all over the place. It wasn't like I was crying all the time.
There was just points in the day where I would have to smash a lamp on the ground to get the tension from my head gone. But that wasn't all that would help me release the aching in my head, whenever I seemed to be walking in the forest outside our back yard the headaches and aching in my fingers would admittedly vanish, and I would be as good as new.
My fingers were starting to ache again, as I tapped anxiously against the dashboard. I watched as cars past by, earning a weird stare from every other driver.
What was I doing here? I had long gone past the Mystic Falls welcome sign, and was now in the middle of a strange town. And now parked in a ditch at the side of a forest. My phone was off, and I was in complete silence. It was nice being alone knowing that I didn't have to worry about anyone getting in my way of my thinking. It would be great if Nicklaus was in the car with me.
I could picture Elena freaking out driving around with Stefan looking for me. Little did she know that there was know way she could find me here. I didn't even know where I was, there for they would have no clue.
I opened my door, and jumped out of the car. Without any second thought I started walking in the forest. I yanked my hood up, and stuffed my hands in my pockets. I rather be lost in the middle of a forest then on the side of road.
Every step I took earned a squishing sound from the forest floor. I looked around only to get a rain drop straight in my eye. I blinked the water away, and kept walking.
The oak trees were getting swallowed by ivy vines and other kind of plants I didn't know. I brushed my fingers across the bark of the trees I past. It eased the pain from my finger tips. I wasn't paying attention to where I was stepping, and tripped on a log. I fell flat on my face, and just put my face to the muddy ground. I just layed there wondering how the hell I missed that log.
I layed my head in my hands while I looked off to a distance to see a plaid shirt sticking out from the muddy grass. It caught my attention with it's dark red. I stood up, and walked over to it. The shirt was sticking out from the forest floor. I yanked a few times on it, but it wouldn't budge. I even leaned back and put my back into it to try and get it from under the mud, but that only caused it to tear. I bent on all four, and brushed the mud away from the fabric. I ended up probably digging a foot to actually see the full shirt. It was a button up just as I expected.
I stumbled back, and covered my mouth. The shirt looked like it was already accompanying someone... a dead rotten corpse. The stench was unbearable.
I could feel my eyes bug out at what I had found. I grasped a tree, and bent over to gag all my food from this morning. Before screaming like a fool, but that was right after someone pulled me away and covered my mouth.
"This is a pretty one." The sickening voice spoke.
