Caleb's POV
Annie wheeled me to the endcap of our row in the theater, which was the third row.
I smiled as I saw Lilly walk into the stage. It turns out it wasn't just a recital; but a competition.
Whoever wins get a scholarship for the future, i.e. college.
I really hope Lilly wins, because she deserves it.
The lights dimmed in the room as Lilly sat down and placed her hands on top of the piano.
She took a deep breath, then her fingers began moving all over the piano gracefully and quickly.
The song was beautiful; so peaceful and soothing, yet the theme changed about halfway through to something intense and dark, then back to being happy and peaceful.
She finished with one last beautiful chord, then stood up as the audience (especially me and her mom, I'll admit) roared with applause.
I saw Lilly grin with excitement as she bowed to the audience, waved, then walked off the stage.

A little while later, the last kid played and the judge came onstage.
He smiled a very obvious fake smile and grabbed the microphone.
"Thank you for your patience, everyone, and thank you for coming out tonight to support these wonderful students of mine. Now, the moment we've all been waiting for; the scholarship." The man said.
Everyone clapped and cheered. I crossed my fingers, hoping it would be Lilly.
"The winner of the scholarship is...Lilly Heron!"
I whooped and cheered as Lilly came running onstage and shaking her teacher's hand.
I saw her smile and cry tears of joy as she waved and headed backstage.
After her teacher got off stage, I wheeled backstage with my family and Lilly's mom to congratulate her.
All the other students were congratulating her when we got backstage. After she thanked them, she turned around and saw me. She smiled and ran over to hug me.
"Congratulations! I'm so proud of you!" I exclaimed as I squeezed her in a hug.
She smiled and wiped away tears as she pulled away. "Thank you! I'm so happy that I won't have to worry about college!"
Her mom and my family hugged her and congratulated her too.
After everyone talked to her, they noticed we were staring at each other.
"Maybe we should give them a few minutes alone." Lilly's mom suggested.
They all shuffled out of the room to leave us alone.
"I've got something for you." I said as I pulled out a rose from behind me.
Lilly gasped and smiled as she took it from my hand. "Thank you!" Then she pulled me into another hug, pulled away, and kissed me.
A couple moments later I pulled away.
"What's wrong?" Lilly asked.
I hesitated. "What are we?"
"What are you talking abo—?"
"Don't play with me, Lilly." I said seriously. "What are we? Friends? Friends with benefits? Boyfriend and girlfriend? What are we?"
Lilly smiled and kissed me again. "What do you think?"
I smiled. "I love you."
"Love you, too." Lilly replied with a smile.
So at first, as you can see, our relationship started out pretty good. We were always hanging out on the weekends, I'd go to her practices, meets, etc.
But like Beauty and the Beast, the petals on the rose I gave Lilly began to fall off over time, but unlike that movie, each time a petal fell, it seemed like our relationship was starting to go downhill.
The first petal to fall: Lilly and I got into our first real fight and we didn't talk for almost two weeks.
The second petal: One of Lilly's good guy friends kissed her in front of me, and it seemed like she didn't stop him, so I got pissed.
The third petal: We lied to each other about our weekend 'plans' just because we didn't want to see each other, and we both got mad at each other.
The fourth petal: After that 'third petal incident', Lilly didn't trust me that well, so when Sydney, Luke, Annie, and I went on a weekend camping trip, she thought I cheated on her with Sydney, and we got into another bad fight.
Now there's only one petal left, and it seems like it's dying.
Now I'm afraid if that petal falls, so will our relationship.
And I don't want the best thing to ever happen to me just...die.
