Danny's POV:
I followed the trail that Maria had disappeared down, cursing myself for being so dumb. I didn't get far until I heard a voice ask from overhead
"what the fuck are you doing here?"
I looked up to see her sitting in the tree above me and I briefly wondered how she had gotten up there.
"I came to apologize how I was acting but honestly I was concerned fir Madison. You do understand that?" I asked and she sighed.
"fine, I know the kid is scared to death of me. I couldn't control it and that's why I went back to see how badly she was hurt!" Maria snarled, turning to me and beating against my chest, though her blows didn't hurt me.
"Hey hey, calm down." I said as I knelt down so that I was at her hight and to my surprise she flung herself at me, holding onto me tightly and crying into my shirt so hard that I felt the tears soak through my shoulder.
"I just wanted a family....that's all I ever wanted. Mom and Dad never was the same after Lane left." she wailed and I sighed and put my arms around her.
"we'll be your family. look here I'm going to have to get use to this but I am willing to be an older brother to you." I found myself whispering as I tried to comfort her.
"forgive me?" I asked softly as I rubbed her back and she glanced up at me.
"yes m....sir. sorry.....I'm not use to ummm....people like you." she replied and I laughed.
"its fine....hey just call me whatever you want." I replied with a sigh.
