Jenna sighed as she led us toward a cavern not far from the river that cut through the island, pausing as she turned and looked at us.

"Alice must be the one to challenge my uncle, I know Lane is your Beta but to be honest even among us two on one is not honorable nor fair."

She stated, golden eyes landing on me before she smiled, or more like smirked before she added

"Remember me if you do win, I would like to see my family once more."

I felt the nervous tingling as I entered the darkness, flanked not only by Lane but by Danny and the others. I could hear screaming as I drew near, seeing the flash of red eyes in the darkness that sent my blood into boiling.

Before I was even sure about what was going on I tasted the Metallic warmth of blood and saw the light fade from the monster's eyes. Turning I saw who I had saved, a young girl no more than eight years old.

"An outsider saved us?"

The whispering around the group was deafening however the two other beasts charged in then, eager to revenge their companion however suddenly Lane and  Dinah was by my side, Dinah's jaws (or her hyena's) closing tight around one of the creature's elongated legs, causing a sickening crunch to fill the air, followed by the shriek of pain. The beast tried to bite her, however Danny, with one swift motion of his massive paw, sliced open it's chest and throat, allowing it's deep purple blood to spew across the area.

"What the hell is this? I told my Pack to leave them be!"

The voice rang clear, the voice of a wolf.

"And go back on the vow we made decades ago when the first tribesmen used their powers for greed?"

I sneered, feeling sick.

"that's my decision to make cub! Now leave or I will kill you!"

I felt Lane growl at my side.

"No, I challenge you for your position among this pack!"

The whole place erupted into murmurs, though he just snarled, gnashing his teeth toward me.

"Then make your move."

I felt a tingle run though my body as I charged st him, though his maw clamped down onto the back of my neck, slamming me into the wall though I was instantly  back on my feet. I could taste and smell my own blood but I knew I couldn't back down, so once more I charged, this time lashing him across the chest.

I don't know how long we fought for but I will always remember how he lunged once more, aiming for a death blow when I dodged, barely able to miss him though he hit the wall with a mighty crack, his own speed and weight working against him and snapping his neck.

I untransformed then, sinking to my knees as I panted, though suddenly the quiet group began to whisper again before erupting into cheers.

"Miss? Here, for your wounds."

A young boy dressed in furs stated, holding out a bottle of something.

"Thank you."

I managed to say, just as Jenna came walking into the cavern, kneeling before me.

"Alpha, I swear my alliance to you."

She stated and I sighed.

"I accept you into the fold, welcome back."

No sooner had I said that she lost her composer and rushed toward an older female and a small boy and girl.

"So what now Alice? Do you want to stay here? There's no more hiding  if we do."
