"keith," lance demanded, fisting keith's shirt in his hands as he clenched his eyes shut in an attempt to make his tears stop, but more just slid off his long, dark eyelashes and made tracks on his cheeks. "i can't lose you," he choked out. "please."

"lance, i don't deserve you," keith whispered, reaching up a hand to wipe away lance's tears, the blue eyed boy leaning into the touch. "and i want you to understand that."

"no, don't say that," lance whimpered, his voice failing him. "i deserve you just like you deserve me and you deserve to be happy and you make me happy," lance rambled, his sentences slurring together a bit. "so, just please, please, for the love of god," lance begged, opening his eyes to look right into keith's. "promise me you'll keep yourself alive."

"lance, i-" keith's words died in his throat, tears blurring his vision as he noticed how upset lance was. "okay. okay, i promise."

lance pulled keith as close as he could, both of them crying into the other's shoulders. lance pulled back a bit and watched keith's expression closely.

"keith, i...i love you. i'm in love with you," lance admitted, keith's eyes flickering between lance's. "i don't want anyone else, okay? i'm willing to wait my whole life for you."

keith didn't respond with words, instead he grasped lance's jacket in his hands and pulled him close, pressing their lips together. lance cupped his face and kissed him back, bleeding his feelings into the kiss, telling keith the way he felt without words, his lips trembling. their tears made the kiss salty, but neither of them cared as they breathed the other in, pressed their hands against the others skin, let themselves feel and be felt, emotionally and physically, until they were breathless and lance didn't know where he ended and keith began.

they stared into each other's eyes as they regained their breathing, eyes portraying their expressions with no barriers. keith let lance know exactly what was going on in his head, and lance did the same. they trusted each other more than anything, and so they let their walls down and just felt, felt love and sadness and anger and longing, aching and adoring and touching and breathing in the other.

keith entertained the little part of him that wanted to stay alive - just for lance.
