Chapter 12

As Louis cried into Liam's shoulder, I gravitated towards the door, and, without even thinking, pushed it open gently. Liam shot his head up as he held Louis' head in his chest. I looked at Louis, and an enormous wave of guilt flashed over me. I made him feel this way. I made him cry. Liam's gaze met mine, and he whispered almost inaudibly, "I'll let you have some time with Lou, and when you're ready to talk to me, come to your room. I'll be in there later." I nodded, still shocked that Louis was in tears like this. Liam got up and began walking towards the door. Louis looked up, helplessly and vulnerably, and as Liam exited the room, he saw my figure standing in the door way.

He immediately began crying again, but these were tears of joy. He ran towards me, picking me up and spinning me around. "Thank god you're okay... Thank god Zayn found you in time." He held my head in his chest, stroking his fingers through my hair. As he did this, he said, "Meg, I'm sorry. I've been an arse lately. I've treated you like crap lately, and I'm so sorry. I'll never understand where you're coming from, and I realize that I shouldn't have tried. Instead, I'll do my best to help you and be there for you. I'm so sorry..." Louis said, his voice cracking. At this point, tears were streaming down my face as he held me closer. I wrapped my arms around him. "I-I'm sorry..." I whispered, and Louis looked down at me, his warm breath landing on my forehead. "I d-didn't know you cared t-that much..." Louis hugged me close again, and he replied, "Are you kidding me Megan? You're my world. You're my everything. You're my best friend, and I love you." I hugged Louis as tight as I possibly could, and he returned the favor. He held me close to him, singing Through The Dark to me quietly as I thought to myself, 'I wonder if he'll find out I slipped up before I went to the Thames...'
