I froze, my eyes widened as I looked at Louis. He wore an expression of dissapointment, which only led to my more intense feelings of depression. I felt my emotions stir up, and I pushed past Louis and ran up the stairs, sprinting down the hallway and opening my door. As I went to shut it, a foot slammed between the door and the wall, blocking it's path to close. "Go away." I said weakly, leaning against the door. "No. I'm not going away." Louis said sternly.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open, and I fell backwards. Louis shut the door behind him, and he helped me up off the floor. "I...I-" I stuttered, but Louis whispered to me, "Shh... You don't need to say anything. It's okay." I looked at Louis' eyes, which looked full of exhaustion and worry. "No," I began, and he looked up at me. "I'm sorry. I'm trying so hard to be normal for you Louis, I really am... And I keep letting you down. I'm sorry. I'm sorry I keep failing you. I'm sorry that I can't be normal for you... I really want to be..." Louis gave me a look that caused me to stop talking.
"Megan, don't apologize. I never said you were letting me down, did I?" His voice was soft and caring, and I whispered, "No..." Louis looked at me intently. "I don't care how hard it it to get you back to being yourself, but I'm willing to be here for you every step of the way. I'm going to help you whenever you need me... I find it so humbling that you're trying so hard to get better for me..." He trailed off, but he suddenly pointed his finger at my heart. As he pushed to where my heart pounded, he said, "Do it for you, Megan. Do you hear this? That's life. That's the life that's in you, and you fully deserve that life. Don't let anything or anyone take that life away from you. Cling to that life, that pulse, that beat... Because that life will soon be full of laughter and happiness. And you need to want to make yourself happy again. Not just for me, but for yourself."
I looked up at Louis- I was speechless. That was the most beautiful thing he's ever said, and I was moved. "T-That was beautiful..." I stuttered, and I threw my arms around him. He hugged me back, and a smile tugged at my lips.
Little did I know that this conversation that Louis had just had with me would cause a fire to be lit inside of me.
