Dan:

' oooooohhhh who's Lo ?' Kyle taunts purposefully leaning over my shoulder and reading the messages on my screen .
I immediately close my messages and shove my phone in my pocket feeling my cheeks heat up .
' you know it's funny last time I checked my messages were supposed to be private , but hey I guess we've got a new sharing policy ' I say sarcastically getting up and going to my room.
' Okay Dan I'm sorry - but seriously who is she ?' He asks noisily , peeping his head around the door
' she's none of your business ' I say getting agitated .
The last thing I need is my friends busting my ass about Elowen , I'm nervous enough about her as it is . I knew after i spoke to her in hospital and when I drove her home that I want to get to know her more , but really the whole prospect of liking her is very daunting to me . I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing . And despite the fact I'm a regular performer , I can't fucking get my act together when it comes to girls . Particularly of course the beautiful intelligent ones . Of course I've dated before but it's always been the works of my mates that fix me up with all kinds of pretty ,witty rich London girls ,and not to be pig headed ,but being the lead singer in a band , it was easy for me to double date with friends and be casual about it . But meeting someone off my own back and especially someone whom I feel such a strong attraction and interest towards - well to put it bluntly , I was bricking it . I mean I thought the invitation to the gig was a good start as it gave me an excuse to talk to her again, but then what - invite her out to every performance ? That would just end up getting tedious , and being a med student she's not always going to be available for gigs .
'Is Dan getting defensive over a girl ?' He says with mock surprise 'What the fuck who is she Megan Fox ?'
I laugh ' no - now get out '
' come on mate you can tell me ' he says leaning against the wall
' promise you won't be a dick ' I say pointing at him accusingly .
' me ? Wow Daniel I'm hurt - I'm anything but a dick !' He says trying to act offended . I roll my eyes at him and flip him off .
' alright I promise ' he says seriously 'now spill '
' it's the girl we - helped the other night , when she got hassled by muggers ' I explain.
' ah the one you so valiantly and selflessly offered to stay in hospital with ' he says raising his eyebrows
' yes , that's Lo , and now you know you can leave me be ' I say shewing him away .
' erm , I'm not done ' he says walking closer
'Why are you texting her ' he says wriggling his eyebrows suggestively .
' just making sure she's okay , she was in hospital you know ' I say in a duh tone .
' sure sure - how come she's coming to our gig Wednesday then ? Is that part of you're get well campaign ?' He teases
' how'd you know about that ?' I ask confused
' I read fast ' he shrugs . Bastard
' well I erm - '
I'm interrupted by the front door opening , and will and woody come sauntering into the flat .
' hi ladies ' woody says setting down his jacket .
' ha bloody ha ' Kyle says sticking his middle finger up when he wasn't looking . Will chuckles and they all come join us in my room .
' oh great so we're now holding a meeting in here ' I groan frustrated .
' yeah so lads we were just discussing that Dans a loser and cannot chat up a girl to save his life ' Kyle fills them in .
I roll my eyes ' and we were also discussing that Kyle is a snake who you cannot tell anything without him blabbing it to everyone' I say pushing past them to get back into the living room . I felt claustrophobic with them all standing in my room scrutinising me. Honestly you'd think they lived here , but actually it's just me .
' woah there - Dan is trying to chat up a girl on his own - now that is a disaster waiting to happen ' will comments plopping down beside me on the couch
' I'm not 'chatting up ' anyone ' I say angrily
' it's the girl he 'rescued' - he's even invited her to our gig Wednesday!' Kyle chimes in smirking
' well well well - boys I think our Daniel might be in love ' woody teases
Picking up the tv remote and coming to join us on the couch .
' yeah I mean , in all seriousness I don't think he's ever personally invited a girl to watch us play right ?' Says will nudging me . I swear they are like the three irritating brothers I'm glad I never grew up with .
' no I haven't - so ? Big deal . I can invite whoever I want ' I say just wishing they would drop it .
' sure sure- just whats so special about her that she gets to be the first ?' Asks woody .
' she's - different ' I sigh not really sure what to tell them .
' hes whipped , they'll be married by next week ' Kyle concludes flicking the channels over until he finds freaks and geeks .
' sure and then you'll finally get to write a humiliating best man speech ' I say
He laughs ' oh please , it's already written bro '

My phone chimes in my pocket and I pretend to go and get a drink to read it just to be on the safe side .

- Okay I'll meet you there , im really looking forward to it X

She's replied to my earlier texts about the whereabouts and timings of Wednesday's gig and I smile to myself leaning against the kitchen counter . I'm such a loser but I'm taking everything she's messaging me so personally , for example - she's looking forward to it ? Does that mean shes excited to see me again or the band ? I mean she was at our concert in the first place so the latter would make sense .
I reply quickly however not wanting our conversation to end .

- yeah me too , how are you feeling by the way ? X

- that's really good to hear X what are you up to ?
I sound like a high schooler trying to talk to my crush but I'm just not as smooth at this whole thing as some guys .
