Part 4: Love and Everything Else
A/N: This chapter will be broken down into three part due to the length of it. Unlike the precedent chapters, I felt like there were no proper break in my writing to consider any of those parts anything else than part of the same chapter. So in order for this bit to make sense, I will publish the second part at the same time as this one to your proper enjoyment!!!
Before going back to see Jenna, I entered the kitchen to see if Ashley and Dylan were ok. They asked me how Jamie was feeling and I told them that he was starting to get better. When they assured me the dinner was in progress, I got out of the room and went searching for Will and his girlfriend. I found them in the living room and they told me they had entered the freezer and the fridge while I was busy helping Jamie. I went back in my shared bedroom upstairs and I saw that Jenna had fell back asleep. I made the move of getting out but she then budged and sat up.
"Hey," she greeted.
"Hi, I didn't know you were sleeping again," I said.
"Oh, well yeah sorry I was waiting for you and my eyes closed on their own."
I walked to the bed and sat on the side.
"My fault, shouldn't have taken so long to come back here." I gave her an apologetic smile.
"You've helped me a lot by saving me from my house. I don't think I could thank you enough for this," she told me.
I chuckled. "It was nothing, really. You would have done the same yourself if our role had been inverted."
She smiled. "True," she said. She closed her eyes for a moment. I was sure she was still tired. She opened them again then looked at me with a smug expression. "I was surprised to see who was with you earlier..." she trailed off.
I looked at my hands trying to hide my grin.
"C'mon tell me what's going on between you two!" she exclaimed, now fully awake and ready to strike.
"Why do everyone think there's something going on?" I sighed.
"So, there's nothing?" she asked.
"We're... friends I think. Nothing more though."
She nodded and grinned widely. "You must be quite happy, aren't you?"
"Yeah, kinda,"
She made a sound between a laugh and a cough. "You told me so many times you'd do anything to just have the chance of talking to him and now you try to tell me you don't care about him being your friend! I'm not stupid Nate."
I sighed. It's been happening quite a lot lately. "I just don't want to look like a freak. If he knew how creep I am he'd probably run away," I told her silently.
"The problem is that you are a freak and a creep. You should never have to change yourself in hope someone else likes you more that way. If he doesn't appreciate you the way you are he's definitely not the good one."
"I guess you're right." I stood up. "Anyway, if you're hungry, dinner will be ready in about thirty or fifty minutes," I told her.
"Yeah I think I'll go downstairs right now or I won't be sleeping tonight."
I nodded. Jamie entered the room right then.
"Hi," he greeted to us.
"Hey," Jenna answered as I smiled at him.
"You feeling better?" I asked him.
"Yes, thank you," he said in a small voice.
After a short silence, Jenna asked me where she'd be sleeping tonight.
