"C'mon Connor! You're so slow!" Troye joked as they raced to Connor's house. Troye knew the way by heart. He swore he could make it there from anywhere in town with a blindfold. It's almost a year later, and their friendship has definitely grown.
"Alight, alright I'm coming." Connor said, tying his shoe.
They got up to Connor's house fairly quick, because Troye's mum put an earlier curfew on him to stop him from being out so late.
"We can make a fort and explore the boats and play video games." Troye said as he excitedly entered the home. Troye always had the most fun at Connor's house.
Connor's dad was no where in sight, which was somewhat of a relief for him.
"We'll make the fort first," He said. "I'll get the blankets. Go get some chairs from the dining room."
Connor gathered blankets from his room, not bothering to look in his dads room. They all smelled of alcohol.
He came back out and helped Troye drag the chairs into his room.
"It'll get hot in there, so we can't use a thick cover." Troye said. He pulled one bed sheet out of the pile. "This'll work."
Together, they constructed their fort and named it the Blue Neighbourhood, because it reminded them of their own neighborhood.
They made a sign saying 'Welcome to the Blue Neighbourhood'
They entered the fort and ate all the junk food their allowance money allowed them to buy. When that was all done, they scavenged Connor's room for something to play with. They found little plastic finger puppets and challenged each other to a duel.
The little toys amused them for a little while, but then two boys got bored.
They eventually stopped, but their fingers were locked. Connor look at Troye, who was already admiring him.
Troye blushed and looked away. Connor untwined their fingers and put his hands in his lap.
"That was weird." He said, trying to bring back the playful mood.
Troye smiled, saying "Yeah, that was definitely weird."
