Within The Stars

Chapter 8

I quickly followed Spock to the cave he was freaking out about, I dodged over the falling rocks that were threatening to take my head off. I wonder who in world would want to live in this rocky environment. Back at home, it was humid and had loads of dense trees to cover us from the heated sun.

"Are we almost there? To that crystal cave, you were talking about." I grumbled

"Katric Ark, and yes, they would be located at the end of the tunnel," he said as he picked up his speed

My eyes were easy for me to see in the dark, our eyes would normally glow in the dark which is hard for us to actually ambush people at night without wearing a mask. I dodged a rock that was aiming for my face and quickly ran into the clearing.

Maybe it wasn't a good idea to follow him down here but it's too dangerous, I can't leave him here to get so many people on his own, Spock quickly grabbed his mother's hand and ushered them all out. I quickly took an older woman's hand and guided her safely towards the exist.

Some of the Vulcans were not that lucky, a few got crushed but we still had a lot of people with us, I saw the light at the end of the tunnel and usher the people in front of us to go faster. Without warning the stone above us fell and crushed the person in front of me into smithereens, blood splattered onto the tip of my boots. The woman next to me screamed and ran leaving me standing there alone as I stare at the rock in shock with painful memories resurfacing.

"Mother! Father! Where are you?!" I screamed with panic while people around me bustled and cries of pain and fear filled the air

"Princess!" I turned around and saw Captain Flor, he is the captain of the military and other things such as the safety of our people.

"Flor!" I yelled running over to him, my ears twitch in panic and my tail automatically curled around my forearm

"We have to get you out of here! It's too dangerous! I arranged an escape pod just down there! Please go there and I hope you reach there safely, I must stay here and make sure all other citizens are evacuating!" He said pushing me towards the pod down at the end of the road

"What about mother? Where's my father? Luke? Angelina?" Flor stopped and shook his head with a saddened face

"They didn't make it, your parents were in the meeting room when this all happened and the ceiling collapsed straight away. As for your brother and sister....the trees had got them. I'm sorry princess, I couldn't get there in time."

I tried blinking back the tears but nothing worked, they poured down my face as I tried to wipe them. He quickly wiped my tears with his thumb and pulled me into a hug, his frame was big enough to make me feel like a child again.

"I'm sorry Princess."

"It's not your fault. You better survive this! Or I will murder you!" I mumbled before tearing away from him and ran towards the shuttle

"No promises!" he gave a sad smile and ran off to help people who had fallen or been injured

I slipped into the space shuttle and pushed a few buttons making it take off into space, I just got a few meters off when the floor gave away. Everybody, everything was gone. I stare in shock as I saw Captain Flor falling down into the black endless hole.

"NO!" I slammed my hand against the glass

He looked up while free falling into the black hole, his eyes were filled with fear, confusion, and sadness. I couldn't tear my eyes away until he was completely gone. No matter how hard I try my eyes still trained on the spot where he stood a while ago. Before I know it I was in space while staring in horror that my whole planet was sucked in by the black hole.
