Bryce Parker,
I looked around the waiting room and tried to hold myself together. Xayvion has been in surgery for nearly five hours and the last update we got was about two hours ago and it wasn't a very good update.
"Here Bry." Olivia said passing me a cup of coffee.
"Thank you." I said grabbing the cup while sitting up.
Staying up for a full five hours isn't hard but I had to stay up and talk Xayvion all night because he was scared about the surgery and his hair. Even though the doctors assured him that they would not cut his hair bald if it was not necessary he was still not feeling it.
"How you feeling?" Olivia asked sitting next to me.
Everyone else had found away to make themselves go to sleep and Grammy just left with Dula because as soon as the doctors and nurses prepared Xayvion for surgery Dula started crying. Which I feel him because he never seen anybody getting hooked up to so much and Xayvion really didn't look like himself.
They had a oxygen mask on his face and tubes everywhere, you could barely see my little annoyance under all that stuff. It was so bad Ms. Mackenzie and Zakari walked out the room. They said it brought back a lot of memories from losing Mr. Oscar and Xayvion's childhood.
"I'm staying strong."
With all that's going on with Xayvion I have been to visit my parents but I have been calling to check in on them, well my mother.
"I would say try and get some sleep but I know that impossible." She said before sipping her coffee. "I should have got sleeping pills like everyone else."
"You can have mine." I said going in my pocket.
I passed her the sleeping pills and then took another sip of my coffee.
"You don't need them?"
"They give me energy and plus if I go to sleep now without hearing an update on Simba I'm just have a nightmare."
"Oh okay, wake us as soon as you hear something." She said kissing my cheek.
She walked over to an empty row like everyone else did and laid down.
I just sipped my coffee and stared at the clock and very so often looking at the doors waiting on a doctor or nurse to come out and say anything.
As the time passed by my mind started drifting off to the times me and Simba spend together.
The Christmas party we met at, our first official date to that abandoned park that had a nice surprise, just hanging out and getting to know each other, him slapping my thighs every time I rolled my eyes, Dula cock-blocking when he was first born, to him asking me out.
The memories kept coming until I seen a little medium height white woman walking our way.
"Xayvion Taylor's family."
"Yes." I said standing up.
I didn't even have to wake anybody up because as soon as his name was said everyone started sitting up.
"How is he?" Ms. Mackenzie asked.
"He is doing fine, he is in recovery right now and I must say y'all have a fighter on y'all hands, we almost lost him a few times but he pulled through."
We all released a long anticipated breath.
"Can we see him?" I asked.
"Not right now, he is in recovery and the only ones allowed to go in his room at the moment is his family, so if you are not married to him or a blood relative then you can't go see him." She said crushing my little hopes and dreams of being there for when my baby wake up from his anesthesia.
"I'm his mom and this is his brother and she is just like family." Ms. Mackenzie said point to Zakari and me.
"You two may go up but she is not allowed, hospital policy."
They both looked at me and I nodded my head.
"Can you just tell him I'm here when he wakes up." I said to them as they walked behind the woman.
"Of course." Ms. Mackenzie said before the doors closed.
I sat back down with Daniel and Olivia.
"He was in surgery for damn near nine hours, shit crazy man." Daniel said.
I nodded my head on agreement.
All I want to do is see my baby.
Xayvion Taylor,
I slowly opened my eyes and seen bright lights in my face, am I dead?
"Xay baby." Momma said causing me to look at her.
"Hey momma, hey little bro." I said ask they birth approached me. "Where Bry?"
"They wouldn't let her come up because she is not your wife or relative." Z said.
"Hello Mr. Taylor, how are you feeling?" Dr. Aboujadi asked walking in the room.
"I'm good, can't feel my legs tho." I said looking at him. "But that's normal right?"
"Very much so, one of the functions that the frontal lobe is in control of is movement and because you just had a major surgery in that area this may not be permanent but it could be."
"I'm temporarily paralyzed?" I asked looking at him.
"We can't be sure if it's temporarily or permanent because this did not happen because if spinal surgery or spinal nerve damage."
After those words left his mouth a nigga whole heart dropped to my ass.
I'm fucking paralyzed!
