Yo friends, how's it going? School has started back up for me and I am already waiting for spring break ugh. I seriously love learning, but the school environment makes me feel so bad and like I don't matter. That's not a good way to teach. I've decided that I'm going to change the description of this story but I don't know about title. Anyways, hot off the printer, CHAPTER 11!
Robin lead me down the hallway and up another long flight of curly stairs. The floor was now marble and it was unimaginably dusty and I could see my boots leave footprints behind us.
"Such a beautiful house. Why so empty?" I questioned Robin. He sighed before replying.
"We don't really like to talk about it." I was intrigued and I wasn't going to give up that easily.
"Oh come on, it can't be that bad." I pressured.
"Oh alright fine. But only for you princess." I blushed dipping my head down to avoid embarrassment. "A long time ago my sister fell deeply in love with a man. Your uncle to be exact. They were to be married and it seemed like nothing could keep them apart. It was true love, the rarest I had ever seen. But unfortunately nothing lasts forever so when Loveday revealed to the man who she really was, he rejected her. That's when she ran away."
"Wait so what was her secret identity then? Why did he reject her?" I asked. His face looked grave.
"She was a De Noir. You see your uncle and my father didn't always see eye to eye. They used to hate each other. They still do, they've just learned to hide it."
"But my aunt said that your dad is an old friend of my uncle? She wouldn't lie to me."
"I'm not for sure if she even knows the truth. Just forget it, my father would kill me if he knew I told you."
"But why am I involved in this? If he really hated your dad then why would he ever trust him enough to let me live with your family?"
"It's not relevant okay. Just drop it."
"I'm not going to just drop it Robin. I deserve to know. This is practically my story anyway if what you said earlier was true and I think I shou-"
"Maria" He yelled, dropping my hand and turning around to face me. "I said, drop it." His eyes burned with fury and I cowered slightly, silently taking a step backward. His eyes softened when he saw that he had scared me and he reached for my hand again.
"I'm sorry. It's not a topic that I like to talk about, okay?" He said gently, pulling me down the hallway and up a final flight of stairs. At the top was a small, curved door that Robin opened and pulled me through.
"This was Loveday's room when she lived with your uncle." Robin said. It was very elegant. The walls were covered in beautiful landscape paintings, and the ceiling was a dome, made entirely out of glass.
"Did she paint them?" I asked Robin.
"Every single one. She used to spend hours up here by herself. Just painting." He replied.
"They're wonderful." I said, astonished by the beautiful colors and the vibrant scenes.
"Here are her old clothes." Robin said motioning to and old trunk in the corner of the room. "I'm not sure what she left in there but there should be something that will fit you." I nodded opening the trunk. I rummaged around for something to wear but all of the clothes were dresses and I definitely did not feel like wearing some tight corset dress right now.
"How about this one?" Robin asked holding out a floor length maroon colored dress that had long draping sleeves and a weird netted head part of the back.
"That is absolutely atrocious. You've got to be joking." I pleaded grabbing the dress and holding it up to myself. "It looks like it was made from a rodent that just got ran over by a car." I gagged and threw the dress back into the trunk. "This is hopeless, I hate to say it but your sister had a horrible taste in dresses." Robin put his hand over his heart and and faked a sob.
"You break my heart princess." He said sarcastically, falling onto the bed and sighing. Just pick something, I have places to be and people to see."
"Whatever, you can walk around in that ugly ass leather but I'm going to try and find something that looks reasonably normal." He narrowed his eyes at me.
"Did you just call my outfit ugly?" He challenged.
"No." I said slowly, biting my lip to stifle my laugh.
"Okay that's it, you're in for it." He growled lunging towards me. I shrieked running around the bed and dodging his outstretched arms.
"Try to catch me feather boy." I taunted, jumping over the bed.
"You did not just call me feather boy." Robin scoffed and chased me around the room. I ran a couple laps before I jumped on the bed and slipped on the satin sheets. Of course it had to be satin. Scrambling to regain my balance after I slipped Robin grabbed my arm and pulled me down onto the bed, pinning me underneath him. I kicked him in the shin causing him to fall, but I obviously didn't think my move though well enough because Robin fell down right on top of me; tangling our legs together trying to reach his shin.
I hadn't realized how close we had gotten until I looked up, meeting Robin face to face. We were both breathing heavily and each frenzied breath danced across our lips. He smelled like pine needles and wet earth. I breathed in deeply. He lifted his hand and gently ran it down the side of my face. My breathing quickened. I couldn't help but notice his eyes; they were a soft washed out green, like a favorite sweater that's been washed to many times. His eyes scanned my face, taking their time on the way down to my lips.
"Wait, are you wearing eyeliner?" I gawked reaching up to touch his eye. Black smeared off onto my fingers. "You are!" I exclaimed.
"You just poked me in the eye!" Robin cursed rolling off me and holding his eye.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry." I gasped, laughing as he curled into the fetal position on the bed. "Come on, get up, it's can't be that bad." I teased, grabbing a nearby pillow and hitting him in the back with it. He looked up from the bed. I doubled up laughing as he came up.
"What are you laughing at?" He retorted, rubbing at his eye. I held my stomach gasping for breath.
"Your face" I gasped, laughing so hard that my stomach muscles started to ache. "I just can't, it's too funny." I managed to spit out between laughs.
"Shut up" he muttered, turning to hide his blush.
