Chapter 13
Corlene’s POV
“Remind me again why I’m going to this?” Annarina asked me for the 15th time in the last five minutes as she parked her car a block away from the club. There was no such thing as a parking spot in their parking lot on Friday’s.
I sighed for the 15th time in the last five minutes. “Umm, I don’t know, moral support?”
“Wahoo, team Corlene!” She mimicked the cheerleaders at our high school, clapping her hands together.
I laughed. “That’s perfect.”
She bowed, “Thank you, I’ll be here till Monday.” She waved at an imaginary crowd.
“Okay, now you’re worrying me.” I said.
She grinned.
We walked down to the club. I was clad in my signature leather vest, blood red mini-skirt, and ripped stockings with knee high boots. Annarina, on the other hand, was dressed completely opposite of me. She had on a cute shirt with ruffles in the back, ripped shorts, and converses. People passing by us must be wondering how in the world were we friends.
Annarina and I strutted down the street and turned the corner toward the club. I beckoned Rina to follow me. We passed the long line and reached the door. The bouncers waved us in. I smiled. Being a star here had it’s advantages.
“I come here often,” was my explanation to Annarina on how we got pass without trouble. She didn’t question me.
Once inside, I grabbed Annarina’s hand, not wanting to lose her in the crowd. The atmosphere was different here now that the theme for the night was hip-hop. Instead of glitter and leather, it was sweat pants and high tops. The feeling was exciting yet unnerving. I felt completely out of place. I looked around, feeling lost. Annarina squeezed my hand and I relaxed slightly.
“You okay?” She asked.
I shrugged. “Just feel a bit out of place.”
She nodded. “So do I.” She looked around. “What are we doing here?”
“I honestly have no idea,” I said, chuckling. I looked around at all the moving bodies and got slightly dizzy. My eyes then set on the bar and I smiled. “Come on.” I dragged Annarina through the crowd of dancers and barely made it to the bar.
“Are we allowed to be sitting here?” Annarina asked nervously, glancing around as if someone was going to call us out for sitting at the bar.
I smiled at her. She’s so innocent. “Don’t worry, it’s fine. They won’t serve alcohol to anyone unless they have an I.D.”
Louie the bartender came up to us, wiping a glass. “Hey, Cora-” My eyes widened in warning and subtly jerked my head toward Annarina, “-lene.” He smiled, voering up his mistake. I glanced at Annarina. She didn’t notice. Louie turned his attention toward her. “And who is this lovely young lady?”
Annarina blushed, “I’m Annarina.”
Louie gave her a killer smile, “A beautiful name to match a beautiful girl.” Annarina blushed even deeper.
I rolled my eyes, “Oh, cease on the flirting and leave the poor girl alone.” I clicked my tongue at him.
“Getting jealous are we?” He winked at me.
