~Chapter Fifteen: Hair Dye

Fluttering my eyes open, the sunlight streams through the cracks in the curtains. Rolling over, the arm of the couch digs into the side of my neck and my legs hang off the edge of the cushions. Sitting up, my lower back aches as I stretch out. Suppressing a yawn, I massage my sore back and look around the empty room. What time is it? My eyes search around the quiet area as I pad into the kitchen. Five boys are crowded around an object. Stepping closer, they seem to be snickering at something. My belly tightens as it cramps. Wrapping my arms around the cramping area, I Reach up to get a glass, still unknown to the boys. Filling it up with water and gulping it down, I repeat the action and the boys still don't notice me. Weird. Exiting the kitchen, I tread down the hallway in hope of finding Gina. Knocking on her closed bedroom door, she calls me in.
"Come in!"
Pushing the door open, I creep into the room to see Gina lying on her bed with a novel clasped in her hands. "I never though you'd wake up!!" I softly laugh and stay where I am standing in the corner. "You okay honey?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Really tired though. What time is it?"
"Uh, it's 1 o'clock. Why?" A smile creeps onto my lips as I join Gina on her bed.
"I want to redye my hair." I state.
"You want to what?" Gina remarks in disbelief. She places her book by her thigh and sits up, looking at me in confusion.
"I want to redye my hair. It's time for a new me. I'll pay for it and everything. And of course I'll make the appointment." I gush.
"What colour?" Gina asks with a smirk.
"Haven't decided yet. I want more blue though. No more black. It's old," I crinkle my nose as I run my fingers through my roots, tugging at the jet black strands.
"Okay, well why don't you go call the hairdressers, their number is on the corkboard, and I'll go make some food." Gina suggests with a smile.
"Yuss!! Food, here I come!" Bounding out of her room, I skip down the hallway and back into the kitchen, the boys are still there. Rolling my eyes, I pick up the landline and dial the written down number for the hairdressers.
"Zazu Hairdressers," A voice chirps down the line.
"Hi, I'd like to make an appointment." I reply.
"Okay, what do you want done?"
"A full hair dye?" I try, biting my lip while I wait for an answer.
"Okay, we're open tomorrow at 9. How long's your hair?"
"About my waist," I say. Pulling the wavy strands straight, the bounce back up.
"Okay, Is 10 alright for you? Since your hair is long it'll take awhile." The hairdresser warns.
"Yeah, that's fine! How much will it cost?" I ask, curious.
"$100. What's your name? I need it for the appointment."
"Cool thanks. Uh, Jesse Brooks..." I trail off.
"Cool, see you tomorrow!" And the line goes dead. Pulling the phone away from ear, I stare at it confused. Shurgging my shoulders, I place the phone on the charger and turn away from the corkboard.
"So, you're dying your hair, again." Luke states, looking at me curiously.
"Yep." I say tersely. Hastily walking out of the kitchen, trying to avoid any more awkward encounters with my cousins and their friends, I collapse on my bed as my door swings shut.
