Chapter 12: Stop Running!
“Dylan,” I whispered, nudging him with my elbow. His arm was thrown over my torso as he slept peacefully, a few snores leaving his mouth. He actually looked adorable. I tried moving his arm a few times but with no luck, since he had such a strong hold. I probably would have enjoyed his arm around me and just have snuggled back into his chest if it weren’t for dance practice. I had to get moving if I wanted to get there early like I usually do. “Dylan, seriously.” I nudged him with my elbow again. I fell back onto the mattress with a sigh of defeat.
I glanced at his peaceful face and noticed the small smirk tugging at his lips. The idiot was awake!
“Dylan, I know you’re awake and you better let me go this instant!” I exclaimed, squirming under his grasp.
“Good morning sunshine,” He replied with a husky voice. Oh God, I loved his morning voice. It was so raspy, husky, and sounded like he indeed, just woke up. I gave him a pointed look and he glanced at my predicament. “Do we have a problem here?” He asked innocently.
“Just a little,” I showed him with my pointer finger and thumb how big my “problem” was.
“Oh yeah? And what’s that?” He asked in an amused tone, but still didn’t remove his arm from around me.
“I really have to get going, Dylan! I would appreciate it if you let me go,” I pleaded, trying to pick up his arm.
“Nah,” He pulled me closer to him and nuzzled his face in between my shoulder and neck. I sighed at the feel of his breath flowing freely on my skin.
“Seriously, I have to go,” I tried once more, trying to come across as stern. I failed when I let out a shaky breath.
He chuckled in response, “Do you really think that’s smart for your head?”
“No idea, but it’s worth a shot,” I shrugged, smiling at the thought of him actually caring about me. He huffed in annoyance but none the less, removed his arm. I graciously slipped out of my bed and grabbed my dance bag. I picked up a tank top and a pair of Nike Pros, making my way into the bathroom. I cleaned my face, pulled my hair up in to a ponytail, and slipped in to my dance clothes. As I opened up the door, I was surprised to find Dylan waiting for me on the bed fully dressed and ready to go for the day. “How did you change so fast?”
“Simple… I’m not a girl,” He shrugged with a teasing tone of voice. I rolled my eyes at his statement and he flashed me a smile. “I was wondering if you wanted me to… um, drive you?” He scratched the back of his neck and gave me a sheepish grin.
“I would appreciate that,” I giggled, slipping the strap of my bag on to my shoulder. He looked exceptionally cute this morning, his hair a disheveled mess on his head, his cheeks a little rosy from just waking up, his eyes shining brightly, and his clothes were fitting his body. He nodded and walked out of my room, looking behind his shoulder at me.
“Are you coming or what?”
“Oh-oh, yeah…” I quickly passed him in the doorway and made my way down stairs to the kitchen. “Hey Mary,” I greeted, grabbing a muffin she left out for me.
“Hey Nina… Dylan,” She smiled at the two of us while Dylan also took a muffin, taking a bite.
“Let’s go,” I waved goodbye to Mary and went out the front door to his motorcycle. I waited for him to get on and once he successfully situated himself on the seat, I hopped on. He handed me a helmet and I slipped it on. “Where’s your helmet?”
