Chapter 32: I Hate You So Much
Dylan’s POV
I sent my fist flying into David’s nose hearing the satisfying crunch of it breaking. The prick didn’t even try to fight back. As I wrapped my fingers around his neck, he smiled maliciously.
“Do you feel happy punching your own father?” He sneered. I threw him to the floor and watched as Ryder came up behind him, holding him steady underneath his arms.
“Nina? Come on, wake up baby. The ambulance is coming soon. Come on, just wake up,” Christina pleaded, sobbing harder by the second. Matt was crouched over Nina, checking her body. He kept moving her limp body parts around trying to see what was broken or sprained. He shook his head, the action sending me on another rampage.
“Are you happy?!” I repeated his words from before sending another punch to his face. “Are you happy that you hurt an innocent girl?!” I screamed in his face.
“I feel very satisfied, yes. She deserved it.” The way he shrugged his shoulders so carelessly really shocked me. The difference in the man in front of me and my father was huge; I could hardly believe it was the same man.
“That’s it, I’m done with this asshole,” Ryder growled. He spun David around and punched him right across the face. I tripped David onto his back and dropped on top of him.
I grabbed his face in between my hand and connected eyes with him. “I will never go with you. Honestly, I wish you were dead,” I slammed his head against the concrete and watched as his eyes flickered with pain and shock. I continued to punch him, feeling the blood splatter against my face, and dropped his head once more.
I continued on screaming in his face, asking him why did he have to be my father? Why did he hurt me so bad I didn’t care if he died or not? I didn’t stop even when he passed out. I didn’t stop when the sirens of the ambulance and cop cars pulled onto our street.
“Dylan! Dylan stop! You’re going to kill him,” Zach and Brendan grabbed me around the waist and neck, pulling me off him with grunts. “Dylan, Nina! Think of Nina! She needs you now, not him. Go to Nina,” Zach whispered forcefully, restraining my hands to my sides.
His words knocked me back to reality and I looked around frantically. I spotted her being lifted into an ambulance with the mask that helped her breathe.
“Go, we’ll take care of this. You’ve done enough,” He pushed me towards Nina and I sprinted the short way, jumping up inside.
“Sorry, only family members are allowed to drive with us,” One of the paramedics smiled sympathetically and I shook my head about to refuse.
“It’s okay, let him stay,” Matt said, putting his hand on my shoulder. All of the Padleys climbed in- the girls with tears in their eyes, Matt stony faced, and Ryder and I all covered in blood. Another paramedic came over and handed me a tissue allowing myself to clean up.
I scrunched up the tissue drenched with David’s blood and glanced up to look at Nina properly for the first time. I felt my throat clog and my eyes burn. She was bruised, bloodied, her whole face swollen and purple, her hair was matted with blood, and her clothes were shredded. Her wrist looked broken and she had the breathing mask since I’m guessing she can’t breathe on her own.
All I wanted to do at that moment was hold her in my arms and apologize a million times. The beeping of the monitor that was keeping track of her heart rang in my ears as my guilt overtook my body.

“Basically she has a fractured wrist and a sprained ankle. I would suggest she held off on dancing for a couple weeks or even more. She received a huge blow to her head, bringing back her previous concussion full force. Instead of it being mild, it is now severe. We had to stich the back of her head, and put her into an induced coma due to the swelling of her brain against the skull. Her memory should not be affected and she has no brain damage. She also fractured a rib, meaning it’s going to be very painful for her to breathe. That’s why we have her attached to a ventilator while she is in the coma.” The doctor explained the condition of Nina to the five of us as we were all crowded in her room.
