Chapter 18: I Was Kidding!
Dylan’s POV
It was actually a very lonely Friday without Nina. Here I was, usually the high spirited player enjoying the day as it goes on, now a sad mess. I guess you could say I was whipped. Yeah, definitely whipped.
She left Wednesday night to drive to a huge competition in New York with the dance team. She was practicing all day yesterday and today for tomorrow would be the day she was actually competing her dances. That would be when I would drive out to see her with Ryder and a few other boys who were tagging along.
The only good thing that came out of her leaving was the hour before she left. It was so intense that I wanted to take her then and there, but I had to stop myself, knowing she wasn’t ready. She had me so turned on that when she left, I had to take a cold shower. Yeah, one of the best nights I’ve had in a while especially with everything going on with my family. She takes my mind off of things and I couldn’t help my feelings which were definitely growing stronger by the moment.
“Hike!” The ball was flicked towards Ryder who sent it spiraling perfectly into my arms. I dodged the Dumont High School players and ran towards the end zone. It was so close, a few more yards and I would have it. I jumped across the line scoring the final touchdown before halftime leaving us at 28-14, us.
I threw my hands in the air just as the buzzer went off, causing the home side to throw a fit. It was normal for me to look towards the bleachers to spot my favorite brown hair and to see her eyes twinkling with pride when I would score. So when I looked over and noticed she wasn’t there, my stomach clenched as I remembered she was about an hour away from me, not here to support me and not here for me to cradle her in my arms, and not here for-
“Yeah Dylan!” Zach bounded over slapping my back with his hand and knocking together our helmets. I put on a smile, happy that I scored Nina a touchdown since she did make me promise to score her one. The team walked together to the locker room, all giddy since we were winning by a good amount.
“Alright boys, settle down and grab a drink.” I went over to my bag, grabbing a Gatorade and slipping my phone into the palm of my hand, trying to conceal it from coach. I sat in the back behind a ton of the boys, not listening to the coach drawl on and on about our performance. My phone lit up as a text message from Nina showed. Jesus, this girl sent me fifty messages!
Nina: Good luck today! Remember to score me a touch down Xx
Nina: Currently in an ice bath, it’s cold! Miss you <3
Nina: I’m bored…
Nina: *Tiger Emoji* Isn’t he adorable?! Maybe even more than you.
Nina: This coach is insane, she has made us practice nonstop.
Nina: I feel disgusting. And since I know you don’t have your phone, I’m going to bomb you… Enjoy!
