the man sighed as he got up in the morning, the meeting yesterday had been a success, though Janice later told him that three teenagers had made an appointment with him on Saturday. he jumped out of his luxury bed and shuffled to his bathroom. he switched on the light and squinted through the bright light, today was his father's appointment, he wouldn't be late. there was a text on his phone from his father reminding him of the time and place they had to be. he nodded and began to brush his teeth, he jumped into a shower and washed away all the sleep. he stood there, letting the warm water run down his back and relax him.
by 7 o clock he was ready for a new day. he walked out of his room and into the rest of his apartment. the Kitchen was small but a perfect size for two people. he served himself a bowl of cereal and went to his home office and sat down. the office was nice, it was fancy and had a huge window showing off the city view. the apartment was at one of the top floors of a fancy building in Buckhead, he had picked it for easy access to work. he sat down and sighed, watching the cars below zip by and honk.
by the time 4 o clock had rolled around he was already in his car and driving to his father's home in Alpharetta. the neighborhood his father lived at was a quiet place, next to the Chattahoochee, most of his life had been lived there and the fondest memories of him and his brother playing soccer came to life. he passed the river gym and smiled seeing the open field, a few teens were playing a volleyball match since the two other courts were occupied. he drove past and pulled into an offside road that led him straight to his old home.
the house was like he remembered it, medium size with the Southern style pattern. there were two floors but his father now rented the top floor to a young woman that was a distant cousin of his from Mexico who was working on her English and her Master's degree. he pulled up to it and honked. his father appeared a moment later in his usual attire, beige slacks, and a stripped polo with 'old man' shoes.
he heard the distant yell of his cousin and his father smiled and waved at the house as he slowly walked to the man's car. His dad opened the door and fell in, with a grunt, he smiled to his son in the next seat and they drove off.
the address took them past the Oakland Cementary, and down a street to a hidden neighborhood. the houses here were small and a few of the people around looked like gang members.
"Are we in the right place?" he asked his father, looking around at the people and homes
"Yes, she lives in that neighborhood."
"So tell me again why you wanted to play with a oiji board?"
"Does that matter? here it is, stop." his father ordered in front of a small house.
he sighed and pulled into the driveway. his father was already jumping out of the car, grinning like a fool. with the help of his son they were able to make it all the way to the door with no leg or knee problems. his father knocked, and the door opened slowly to reaveal a woman. she looked Brizilian, with beautiful features and dark wavy hair that was pulled up into a messy bun. she looked almost like one of the girls on Instagram, with their perfect makeup even though they claimed they just got up. she looked him up and down and had a playful smile on her lips.
"Alma, this is my son Jimmy." His father said.
she looked to his father and smiled sweetly moving aside so they could pass. the man looked at her eyes and almost jumped back when he saw a golden pair of cat eyes staring at him.
"Ah, so you must be able to see past the Glamor, intresting. my name is Alma Santacruz. Mr. Garcia would you please go into the living room." she said with a smile.
