Amy Glenn's POV
The tour was going amazingly well; we did an incredible job according to esteemed music critics. So, while Poe's Raven was with Helen, our family was taking a much needed break, walking around some park having a good ol' jolly time.
Meth and I walked hand in hand, and Brighton carried Adele most of the time. Brielle walked with us, watching over us as if we were her children. Well, I guess we are her children...
As we were about to leave, Adele came running up to us with a small, grey creature in her hands. At first I thought it was a baby squirrel, but when she handed it over to Brighton, I saw the signature bug-eyes and grey striping of a sugar bear, or a sugar glider, as its better known.
"Where did you find her? Normally, they are impossible to catch once they've gotten loose..." Brighton asked her after checking to see if it was okay. He had been planning to go into the veterinary field, so he knew what he was talking about. Obviously, he had decided music meant more to him.
"She was awl cuwled up in a bawl undew the twee," Adele said innocently. "She looked cowd. Mommy, can I keep hew?" I met Meth's eyes. All decisions concerning us went through him, first. He was the one she called Daddy, and I wasn't planning on ever leaving his side for the rest of my life, so he was basically the man of the family. Brighton knew this instinctively, and he didn't contest it. He was more of a brother figure, anyway.
He wasn't exactly one for responsibility, either...
Meth nodded the affirmative, so I told her yes, but only if she took care of it. Her. Ugh, I'm already getting confused. By the time we got back to set, Adele decided to name her new pet 'Ivy'. Don't ask me, I don't know why, and I probably don't want to know why, that just so happens to be the name she picked.
Besides, I had other things on my mind. Like the fact that our interview was about to start, and I was driving myself batty. Adele was the only thing keeping me remotely calm as stylists adjusted my outfit and a makeup lady dusted my face with just enough blush that you could still see my freckles against my pale skin. My hair was tied in a loose side braid that looked incredible. My dress was black with a layer of green beading and lace over it, which I was starting to think was a signature color for me. The high neckline and light-catching embroidery made the simple dress look very fancy.
When we were called onto the stage, I tried to act normal. I was going to be fine, the boys wouldn't let me do anything stupid. Thank God my scars were faded, otherwise I'd be in a heap of trouble. We all gave Helen a hug, exchanged basic greetings, and sat down on the couch.
Helen asked the basic questions, how we felt we were doing, how we had become famous, and a few others, but then one came that I wasn't expecting.
"So, Amy, I hear that you're a mother. Is that true?" Helen asked curiously. I nodded my head.
"Well, yes... and no. It's a long story, and my daughter is backstage and she isn't at the age where I want to tell her what happened yet. It's not a good story, and it doesn't have a completely happy ending," I replied truthfully.
"Oh, I'm sorry for prying. But since she's here, would she be okay coming out to say hello?" Helen asked hopefully. I smiled gently.
"You'd have to ask her yourself," I said, motioning to Brielle to let Adele come to me. I got off the couch and crouched down so I could catch her as she ran to me. When she got to me, the crowd gave a collective "awww".
"Hey, little one. What's your name?" Helen asked her. Adele sat shyly in my lap as I repositioned myself back on the couch.
"I'm Adele," she said in her cute babyish voice. The audience just cooed on and on about how cute she was.
"Hello, Adele. How old are you?" Helen continued, her eyes trained on my beautiful baby.
"I'm almows thwee," she admitted cutely. "Mommy says I'm a big girl." The audience laughed, their undivided attention on Adele.
"Do you like having a Mommy that's in a band?" Helen asked. "Do you like your Mommy's music?" Adele nodded her head so fast I thought it would come off of her neck.
"Mommy and Daddy and Glow Worm awe the best mewsishans evew! Mommy sings me to sleep evewy night and I can sing with hew," Adele said, her bubbly side emerging slowly. "Isn't my Mommy the bestest?"
No one knew whether to laugh or revel in her cuteness. Fortunately, the show was over and it was time for us to go.
"Bye bye!" Adele waved as she practically dragged me off the stage. Thank goodness my daughter wasn't one for the spotlight yet, otherwise, we could've been there for months!
