Amy Glenn's POV
Our solo concert was gonna be held in Los Angeles, in a very large stadium that could fit thousands of people. We were still nervous, but we had started to adjust to handling the butterflies in our stomachs. I doubt the fear would ever really go away... Performing is like riding a roller coaster, the rush and the adrenaline...
Instead of Terra planning this concert, one of the girls in the opening act band was the planner. I can't say that I wasn't nervous, because I was, but Terra had faith in her, so we did, too. The reason for this concert was those girls: Radio's Replay. The bassist's dad was Terra's brother-in-law, and he was trying to take this kind of music away from his daughter. He was so focused on his dream of her being a classical violinist that he didn't realize he was smothering her.
Apparently, her boyfriend had driven all the way to northern California to "kidnap" her from Josh and Terra's place, where her dad had been keeping her. That is commitment...
The four girls were really nice, and we were becoming really close before the show started. We were all backstage, chilling out. The bassist was Collette Cierra, Terra's niece. The pianist/songwriter was Danielle Cavento, a really bad*ss chica. The guitarist was Kat McAster, a country girl from southern Texas. The drummer, Phoenix DuVaine, was the band leader, but right now she was so quiet and depressed you wouldn't have been able to tell. Her hair was black and streaked blue, and she wore almost all black leather.
Three boys that looked mostly identical accompanied them: Breyden, the oldest with average brown hair, was paired with Danielle. You could tell they were a new couple; they were constantly questioning themselves when they did anything couple-related. You could also tell they had a history, it was all written in their eyes.
The brother with really light brown hair was Trey, I think. He was a little bit clueless, but Kat seemed to like him anyway. He was really funny, and he was so devoted to Kat; it was adorable. He had helped her put together the show tonight, so I made sure to thank them both.
The third brother had really dark brown hair, almost black, and he and Collette didn't stop touching for an instant. He was the one who drove out to get her...
The boys were managing the backstage area pretty well. The four girls went onstage and di their set, and let me tell you, they were absolutely amazing! They came off the stage with the same glow that we have when we perform. Smiling at them as we passed on our way to the stage, I gave each one a hug. Taking the mic, I went out and greeted the crowds.
"Hey, hey, hey, L.A.!" I shouted, pumping up the already hyped crowd. "Did you love Radio's Replay as much as I did? Weren't they amazing?" I asked, gaining a round of applause for my friends. "That's a really hard act to follow... but we'll do our best."
We went through our set flawlessly, finally coming to the last song. "Okay, everyone, story time. So, the tour bus can be really rough during the night, and Brighton over here is a really light sleeper. A few weeks ago, he woke up in the middle of the night and decided to write down some lyrics. When he woke up the next morning, he couldn't find them. He has been looking around for the whole week, and then finally, yesterday, he managed to find them when we were looking for Ivy, my daughter's sugar bear. Both Ivy and the lyrics were under the couch. The entire time," I said dryly, evoking laughter from the audience.
"So we played around with it, recorded it, and now, here it is!" Brighton yelled from his place behind me as the drummer counted us in.
"Looking around corners, / out of the corners of my eyes. / So scared that I'll be found again, / and be taken by surprise. / I can feel eyes watching, / I can sense your stare, / but when I turn to find the source, / there is nothing there..." We had recorded Brighton laughing maniacally into the track, but since we were live we just played a recording, which was eerie enough.
"So I take a deep breath, / even though I don't have much sanity left..." It wasn't hard to get into this song. It had a high tempo and an easy-to-dance-to rhythm.
"I'm just a little paranoid. / I can hear footsteps close behind. / The walls are closing in on me, / I'm running out of time. / Scared to face you after everything, / I used to love you more than anything. / But I've become Paranoid."
"Locking all the doors behind me, / the window's closed and barred. / It's hard to let people in again / when my heart's broken and scarred. / It's hard to love, it's hard to trust, /it seems impossible, what I see, / but it's driving me insane / and I'm so scared, it's hard to breathe..." I circled back to repeat the pre-chorus and chorus, which, by now, the crowd already knew.
"Circus funhouse mirrors, / playing with my mind. / Reflections of us in shards of glass, / clocks that change the time / back to you and I..." We slowed it down to sing the chorus one last time. Before finishing with the alternate ending.
"Paranoid that you'll come back, / hurt 'cause I know you won't. / Paranoid that I'll fall in love like that / again; or that I don't..."
I let them finish out the melody instrumentally as we sank into the floor via the stage risers. It was a very amusing mechanism, Brighton and Meth had spent a good hour with the stage crew so they could play with it before the show.
The pyrotechnics crew spent another few minutes setting off fireworks before the concert was officially over. It was one of the greatest nights of my life.
Leaving the stage at around ten past midnight, we left for the hotel. We would be back on a plane to the East Coast and our tour bus sometime tomorrow. Or today...? I'm not sure anymore.
I still have to get Adele into bed!
Meth carried Adele to the limo, and she somehow slept through the flashing cameras. When we got to the hotel, Brighton practically had to pull me to our adjoining rooms. I barely had enough energy to change out of my concert clothes and into my pajamas. I kissed Adele goodnight, tucked her in, and I was out once I hit the pillow.
