Dan's P.O.V.
The front door opened, Delilah's face peeking out from behind it. " How was school Deli- I stopped, feeling my fingers start to get tense. " Pretty good. I brought Dakota along with me for a science project. " She grinned, pulling him in for a hug. Clenching my jaw, and my fists, I managed a bitter smile. " How delightful, come on in Dakota." He grinned. God damnit he had dimples! They sat down on the couch as I brought them some snacks. " Well you guys can get settled, I'll just be in the... kitchen." I smiled, hoping he would buy my act. They nodded their heads and proceeded to create their volcano.
What they didn't know was that I would be watching their every move. Well watching Dakota's every move.
Pretending to wash the dishes, I eyed them casiously. " Okay Delilah, first where's the water bottle?" Dakota asked. She shrugged. They dug through the bag and out of nowhere baking soda spilled out all over the carpet. " Oops." They said in unison, blushing. I sighed. " Grab some paper towels and clean the mess up." I glared. Delilah hung her head and quickly got up. " Sorry dad." She mumbled. I smiled and kissed her on the cheek. " Don't worry about it, it's totally fine." She grinned back and headed back into the living room. Maybe Dakota wasn't so bad after all. Maybe he was a good kid. But that quickly changed after they had picked up the mess. " You got something on your face Delilah." He he said softly, grinning. His face was inches away from hers, and he wiped away the powder with his thumb. I could see her blushing like mad. That was it.
Without thought I smacked him straight across the cheek, leaving a large hand imprint. " Get the hell out of my house!" I yelled, pushing him out the door with his stuff. I slammed the door shut and collapsed against the door. " What the heck did you just do?!?!?!"
