I smiled as Kenneth's dead body was dragged off by the guards. But I dragged my head towards my dying father laying on the solid, cold grass. My mum kept kissing his forehead, mumbling things to herself, probably praying that everything would work out. Somehow, as sad as it sounds, I didn't.
I kept my distance from them, the pain already took over my heart, I don't want it anywhere else. I watched as multiple doctors checked my father, but all shook their heads in the end. It left my mum heartbroken every time. Out of nowhere, Harold wrapped his arms around the neck and covered my eyes. "Who is it?" he asked.
"Hi Harold" I said. He stared at me with love and affection, I smiled back, my heart tingling at just looking at his warm eyes. Something was trying to break free, something towards Harold. I just couldn't put my finger on it."So how's it all going? You know, your father..."
"Personally, I don't think it's going to work out. I just don't..."
"Lee, it's gonna be ok, were all going to get through this, together..."
He edged himself closer, but I shuffled away. He was trying to start something. "So how about your fangs? Back yet?"
"No, just think it's not the right moment. Anyway, yours just came out of nowhere when I arrived. Taking medicine or something?" he asked, eager to find out if there's a cure.
"No, it said I would regain my fangs when my belov....... Hang on...." I paused, trying to clear my mind. I gained my fangs right after Harold came. Does that mean? No it can't. It just can't.
"What? What is it Lee?"
"Um... it just came out of nowhere"
He sighed sadly. "Ok then. I guess it will come when it comes right?"
He said, putting a brave smile. I smiled back, but stopped when we lost eye contact. He really was, wasn't he? To my surprise he gently touched my shoulder and said, "I could help your father. I'm a healing vampire, one of the first. But I'm human so..."
I hushed him before saying "Don't worry, I'll provide power for your gifts."
We both stood up and walked over to my father. He looked so pale, his chest was barely going up when when he breathed in. "Hold on dad, we'll fix you up." He slowly grabbed my hand, squeezing it gently. Harold grabbed my hand and held it, startling me a little. He put his hand on my dad's chest and nodded at me. I sent some energy up his arm, across his chest and down his arm, transferring it into my dad.
My mum wiped her tears and looked in awe and wonder as yellow light scooped itself into my father, pushing colour into his cheeks and darkening his hair. I kept my eyes shut and concentrated deeply, feeling the flow of power move around my body and into Harold. Before I opened my eyes, I heard my father gasp with life. I looked as his eyes fluttered open.
My mother dived at him and gave a passionate kiss straight to his soft lips. My mum beckoned me over but I didn't move. Suddenly, my mother sped towards me and looked at me with concern. "Lee! Are you ok, your nose, it's bleeding."
I dabbed a bit of the blood and stared at it. A high class doc took my temperature and spoke to my with a loud voice. "Lee! Listen to me, you gave away too much energy, so when it run out, you ended up sending your life energy over as well. You've lost too much of it, about 1/2. We need to get you to the medical room right now!" he shouted.
I struggled to keep my eyes open as he examined my nose and heart rate. I felt someone lift me off the ground effortlessly as my body fit perfectly next to them. "Don't worry doc, I'll get her there" Harold said. He carried me in bridal style while whispering in my ear "You'll make it, you'll make it..."
After a short while, he dropped me onto a hospital bed and sat down on one of the available chairs near by bed. My mother and father sat down nearby aswell. The screeching sound of the health machine going flat spread through the air. The doctors shouts blended in. "Were loosing her Doc! Her life energy is lowering by 20% every second. She will have none left in less than 10 seconds!"
I shut my eyes, blocking out the noise, until I felt something touch my lips gently...
