      ... I walked closer and read the sign. It read "The Old Apostolic Church of Eastwood".  There was a foldable sign out front that said "Free Warm Beverages and Shelter." I thought, why not. I'd never really been all that religious, obviously, but what did I have to lose?
I walked in the main entrance and saw soft tones of browns fill the dining hall and auditorium where the sermons took place. I was greeted with a warm hand shake from a man by the name of "Todd". "Hello Todd" I said quiet and bashfully. He said "God be with you." I nodded and walked over and made myself some raspberry mint herbal tea with a dash of honey.
The lady behind the breakfast bar said "How can I help you?" She flashed a friendly grin. "I um, had, uh, just read the sign out there and decided why not... Heh.." Could I have sounded more helpless!? "I'm Terri, over there is my husband, Todd." "Well nice to meet you, Terri, I'm Ruby." "Like the gem?" She asked. "Yes.." I replied sheepishly. "Well that's easy to remember, that's my birthstone."
We continued small talk for about another 3-4 minutes, then I excused myself. I went to the bathroom and ran my fingers through my hair. "I'm a mess." I had said under my breath. An old lady came out of a stall with a beige purse and a floral cane.
