I had asked Gajeel to tag along to Porlyusica's, this time. I want him to be there for me, incase the worst comes to pass. I knock on the door and she opens it. She's been expecting me. She nods at Gajeel and lets us in. She directs me back to the couch and I sit down Gajeel leans against the opposite wall. I can tell that he's nervous and uneasy.
"All right. Lay down and stay as still as possible," Porlyusica says. I lie on the bench and she starts to concentrate her magic. She holds her hands over my stomach, breathing calmly and concentrating. I can feel her magic power searching my body. I can feel it through my whole being, but, in the blink of andye, it all funnels into my stomach.
"What do you see?" I ask.
"Quiet." I forgot she doesn't like people much. After a few minutes she opens her eyes, leaving one hand to control the magic. "Alright. You asked about their father, correct? Come here, dragon." Gajeel, put farther from his comfort zone, walk over to us. She holds out her hand and he takes it. She smiles
"They're his. Both of them." Gajeel looks like he might fall over. I think I might cry. Not only are they Gajeel's, but, now, I have two. Two little dragons and bookworms. The healer releases her magic and I stand up to hug Gajeel. He hugs me tightly.
"It's twins, Gajeel!" I exclaim.
"Yes, very good. Now, I expect you to be very careful with these two. They are very fragile at this stage. No more heavy lifting, no fights, and try to be careful," states Porlyusica. I promise that I will. She sends Gajeel and I away. We are on our way back to our house, when I decide that we should go to the guild. Gajeel agrees and decides that he needs to take on a few jobs. We are going to need a lot of money to keep up with twins. When we walk in, I go sit with Lucy and Natsu.
"Hey, Levy. you certainly look happy, today. Anything to do with why you're late?" Lucy asks. I realize that I'm still smiling. I bite my lip and hold back my excitement.
"You know that little thing I was telling you about?"
"The thing with those guys?"
"Yeah. So guess what?"
"What?"
"What I thought was one... it's two! They're both Gajeel's," I exclaim. Lucy grabs my hands and squeals with me over the table. We try and keep it very quiet, but a few people seem to have become interested. Mostly Natsu, because thinks that this is some huge secret that we'll never tell him.
"What thing? What's Gajeel's?" Natsu inquires. Lucy says she'll tell him later. He sits and pouts, not liking her answer. He loves Lucy, though, so he won't fight with her.
"So does this mean shopping trip?" I look at Lucy, none too excited for what I'm about to say.
"Yes, but, first, it means going on boring jobs and sitting around," I whine. I would much rather go on jobs with Gajeel and help him kick butt. Instead, I go up to the board with Lucy and take jobs like delivering cake, demonstrating magic for a first grade class, and filling a dry well. I do get a job deciphering and old journal for a family, though. That was fun.
Lucy helps me with many of the little odd jobs and we return to the guildhall with plenty of money. I give some to Lu, to help with her rent. I save the rest in a large jar that I store in my closet. This money will be put towards the babies.
With the day over and Gajeel out on a mission with Wendy, Romeo, and Lily, I curl up on the couch with one of my books. I read until it's very late at night. I mark the page and go up to bed. I hug Gajeel's pillow and snuggle into it. It's smells like him and helps me to fall asleep. I fall into the nightmares that I have had every night, because of what happened with Phantom Lord. I have dreams about those men, Jose, and Gajeel covered in blood.
I start awake. The sun isn't up yet. I'm shaking and I don't think I'll be able to get back to sleep. I stay in bed, clutching Gajeel's pillow and trying to close my eyes. I stay like this for a few hours. When I see the sun peaking out from the horizon, I get up and take a shower. After that, I make some cereal and eat breakfast alone.
Before I head to the guild, I make some strong coffee. I add some cream and sugar. I pour it in a mug and almost chug it. Instead, I burn my tongue and set it down. It's way too hot. Plus, Gajeel should be home in a few hours. If I'm not here to greet him, he might get worried. He knows about my nightmares all too well. The first night we stayed here, together, I woke him up when I started screaming in my sleep. I was having a horrible nightmare about Gajeel being forced to hurt me and then being beaten and killed when Jose said he left me alive. He shook me awake and held me tightly for the rest of the night. Neither of us got much sleep that night.
